Do we need to have an intervention?? Like dude ~ how many new bikes have you bought – I mean just this year??? Its a sign you have a deep seated disturbance. Here, take some of these purple pills and you will feel better…
That is just jealousy talking ….

Why don’t we redefine “commuting” while we’re at it. Pack up the panniers or frame bags, camp at one of the C&O Canal hiker-biker sites, then ride into work the next day. Repeat Monday thru Friday. My coworkers would be none the wiser.
What say, KayakCyndi?
KayakCyndi says when do we leave?

Thanks to Pete Beers and Bikenetic I have a new 54 Jamis Renegade ELITE that will be my stateside bike replacing a 30 year old Raleigh that has a cracked seat tube and was always breaking spokes.

What a nice present to come home to!

ParticipantCloser home and for less money? Then I’d craft a loop through Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and into Canada if you have time. Pick a place that you can train to and from so you don’t have to leave a car somewhere. You could do an abbreviated version of this: https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?doc_id=12365.
Countless hours could be spent on the Crazyguyonabike site.

ParticipantOh great. There goes my day.
If I had a month I’d:
1. Ride the Divide, or at least a portion of it. https://www.adventurecycling.org/routes-and-maps/adventure-cycling-route-network/great-divide-mountain-bike-route/.
2. Go back to Idaho and do the entire Hot Springs Route plus some other gravel in the area: https://www.adventurecycling.org/routes-and-maps/adventure-cycling-route-network/idaho-hot-springs-mountain-bike-route/.
3. Hit the Dakota, Montana, Washington and Oregon parts of the Lewis and Clark route: https://www.adventurecycling.org/routes-and-maps/adventure-cycling-route-network/lewis-clark/.
4. Go to Europe and ride/train everywhere. I’m dying to check out Slovenia. Combining that plus Austria/Germany/Italy would be spectacular.
Sigh.

Anyone want to share a ride and camp site? I can drive the family minivan which now serves as bike transport vehicle since it’s paid off, beat to hell, and still runs good (enough).
I’m registered for both days in the duo class with TinaP. We’re camping too. Come along! Looks like silly fun. Not sure about carpooling yet but let’s stay in touch.
KayakCyndi
ParticipantGina that is a silly question — Bikenetic Full Service Bike Shop is easy to get to from the East Falls Church metro (as you know) and they DEFINITELY know their mountain bikes!
KayakCyndi
ParticipantThat was fun. We’ll do it again — maybe next week if this weather holds!

My bad we are on FRANKLIN square near 13th andK.
KayakCyndi
ParticipantI’m coming no matter what. I’ll bring my bright orange Giro wind jacket (not that I’ll need it) so people can find me. I’ll also post here where we land on the square after food has been obtained.

ParticipantAll the good stuff is out west.

ParticipantIt is the sticky under events: http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?7078-Weekly-Coffee-Gatherings
In VA (or nearby) you have:
Monday Pancakes at Mike’s in Falls Church
Tuesday Cafe Kindred in Falls Church
Wednesday either Rebel Coffee at Java Shack or Hump day coffee at Best Buns in Shirlington
Thursday — Amouri in Vienna
Friday — FCCII at Java Shack or FCC in DC. It used to be at Swings but has been relocated to a Baked Joint while Swings is undergoing renovations. There are also various coffees in Silver Spring and Herndon and perhaps elsewhere.

I got away with only one fall this winter. Turning onto the Custis from the WOD, I knew I wasn’t going to make the turn on the ice despite riding studs, so I rode straight into the snow by the small shelter. I then went over the bars as the bike stopped, landing in soft snow. The bike almost stayed upright even without me on it.
Need video.
