ParticipantGood suggestions all. Ended up taking a couple of options with me and using none, and this worked fine. The shorts pretty much stay in place over the affected area (instead of chafing), and I guess the combo of sweat, drool, water and raindrops over time kept everything happy. Really did not feel any discomfort when on the bike during the whole event.
Had used a variant of neosporin previously and had since discontinued that. So far so good. Now if I can just keep the dogs from scratching the area when they say “hi” upon arrival.

ParticipantAt the elementary school near my house (Claremont Immersion) the kids are (or at least were) prohibited from biking to school. Not good.

ParticipantC’mon folks, BikeArlington Team C (for “cyclists”, y’know) has but 4 members – we need 6 more.

ParticipantMy wife was passing through there and saw one rider, seemingly NOT badly injured, and 9 (or so she said) police vehicles. No other bikes or cars in sight. She wondered if it was a hit and run?

ParticipantHeaded to Long Bridge Park to watch, but of all times for NASA to be early, today was it. I caught the first pass (glorious and close!) while next to DCA on the MVT, and caught the remaining passes at the Park – which was packed, by the way.
Was amused to see traffic northbound on the parkway was at a standstill @ that time, likely due to would-be Discovery watchers trying to pack into Gravelly Point. No traffic woes on the bike, of course….

ParticipantC Team is in place, just needs more teammates!

Participant…and correcting my own post title – the trail name is W&OD, not WO&D (or even “WSO&D” as I fat-fingered it….).

ParticipantAnother random thought – with the profusion of smartphone-carrying riders out there, would it help to put QR codes on all wayfinding signs? The codes could generate a “you are here” map on the user’s phone, complete with a list of what’s coming along the trail (in whichever direction they are going) as well as a “how to find _____ from where you are now”.

ParticipantKen, note that you are referred to as a “Junior Member”…. Prove ’em wrong – show the Boneshaker….no junior about it!

ParticipantNot too sexy, but the images could link to a single splash page that talks briefly about each of the 3 orga and then offers links to each.

ParticipantAnd at least two have covers now held on by what looks like duct tape. Technology!

ParticipantTim or others,
The now infamous I-395 underpass is now lit by about 5 of the 11 lights present. VDOT now says that they have no control over that, and that Arlington is in charge of the lighting fixes.
Does anyone know who in Arlington (a) is actually responsible for these lights, and (b) will admit to being responsible? I’m happy to contact whoever as long as I know who whoever should be.
(And no, I won’t mention “The Arlington Loop” when submitting a lights out report — too much controversy….)

ParticipantIf the other cyclist hit you from the rear, doesn’t it mean she’s at fault (as is the car with motor vehicles)? Or was this more of a t-bone situation?

Participant*Thanks* to those who made a showing at the Board meeting today. I think there were Arlintonrider and KLizotte sightings (sorry I did not say hi in person, I had to get my daughter off to basketball) and perhaps other bike-folks were there as well.
Overall we had a solid turnout by various park user groups, and while early in the process, I think the Board took note of the interest in properly and fully completing the parks and associated amenities (read: the trail connection to the MVT).
There may be a need in May or June for a larger turnout at a similar meeting, so stay tuned, and if in the mean time you want to express your interest in having a trail connection between LBP and the MVT, please write to the Board.
