ParticipantInteresting concept, I still need to think how it can be used in daily life. While the high point provides “aerial” view in traffic, its low version really only provides a cruiser, really not much use in traffic!!
i’ll be scared off falling on car roofs!!

ParticipantThat’s awesome, you should totally market it.

ParticipantFinally CaBi has decided to listen to the crowd. I guess to many requests in their inbox must have prompted this suggestion. Will it work, if I suggest a location multiple times

ParticipantMORE-ons!!
@jabberwocky – is there anywhere i can check out the Lake fairfax loop online? is it on More website?justasaintz
ParticipantActually Dirt, you forgot about Difficult run, unless you mentioned it by some other name. I did it almost a year ago and liked it. The thing is I live in DC and most of the trails seem far for a nice weekday ride.
I always wanted to join the Wakefield day/night ride on Thursdays, but since metro does not allow bikes before 7, its almost impossible without a car to get there. Also, most of the time I work till 6 on Thursdays!!!
I like your suggestions about CCX trails. I did see signs when I was doing difficult run and its also to get there by taking the metro till east falls.
I wish DC itself had better and easily accessible single tracks. Is there a reason one cannot be setup in rockcreek park?

ParticipantIt was really nice to have met everyone in person. I agree on the names, I’m terrible at it, but I think i can relate to your screen name the next time i see you! :p
jrenaut, glad you made it home safely. I would check the front tyre to see if anything is poking in and then patch the tube.

ParticipantI like mountain biking and i’m a beginner. however I do not drive and so understand the limitations of my options. So, here is are my questions..
1. What do you think of Fort Dupont Trail in DC
2. What is the best way to start mountain biking without a car? has anyone done this before?justasaintz
ParticipantThis years Seagull’s first half was pretty pleasant. But the second half was absolute torture, there was headwind in every direction you turned. Not a pleasing ride when you have deep rims and the wind is taking shots at you at every turn.
But the feeling of finishing it was absolutely awesome, was so glad to be out of that wind.
I like the ideas on recovering. I always wondered what helps the best in recovering, I never thought of the compression clothes, should give them a try. Thanks Pete. Though I have to say, I can’t see myself taking a icebath!!

ParticipantYeah, i saw that video and couldn’t stop watching it. Luckily most the deer i passed were from a distance. Hopefully they are not as aggressive. Also, i think the deer in this local are more used to human traffic.

ParticipantI don’t think its just DC, pretty much every where traffic gets horrendous as soon as rain drops are spotted. But yeah, DC is especially terrible.

ParticipantWakefield is a popular park for mountain biking. Its just off 495/395 exits. You will find more info about the rides on the MORE forums (http://www.more-mtb.org/) as Pete suggested.

ParticipantOk, So, I will be camping at Assateague Island State Park. I am allowed upto 3 tents and 2 cars. If anyone wants to join, feel free to let me know. I intend to camp both Friday and Saturday night.

Participantthere aren’t really any “big” hills. However as you get closer to the end any long incline would seem like a hill. Not to mention the second section seems like a never ending roller coaster.
I agree on Seagull century as a introduction to century rides. While its all flat, its more important to feel comfortable in a saddle for extended periods.
Steve, I don’t know if its a good idea, but I do feel like going and riding the next day. I guess a cool down ride wouldn’t hurt right?

ParticipantCongratulations Ann! the BRC was no easy task and I have to agree the food at some of the rest stops was really good.
