Got the long johns out this morning – positively chilly after Wednesday and Thursday. I think I might have frostbite.

Never been to the Ballroom, that’s why I wanted to take this chance to try it out. But maybe the hottest day of the year isn’t the best day anyway.

I spent some time with a crowd that hung out at the Ballroom six or seven years ago. On a nice day the roof is nice until it gets too crowded, but that happens quickly, and it goes downhill fast.

I can’t make happy hour today, but I do love happy hour, and will make it to one as soon as I can.

I finally got my bike hung from the ceiling.

This is what my younger daughter sees when she’s getting her diaper changed.

I still need to figure out how to secure the wheels – they’re just wedged up there right now (the left end of the handlebars is pressed against ceiling), and it seems pretty steady, but I don’t want it falling. It wouldn’t get low enough to hit the kids, but it could hit me or my wife, or break something (the bike, for example).

It’s hanging up there with a Harken 45 lbs Bike Lift System that I got from austinkayak.com (They were really quick to ship, I’d recommend them).

Anyway, I’m pretty happy. It’s out of the way, and it goes up and down easily.

I’ll be riding, no problem. On my way home, I’m going to grab a cold six pack of Coors Lite. If I get too hot, probably around the hill at 15th and Florida NW, I’ll just pop the top on a Silver Bullet and that awesome cold train will come roaring through, bringing with it a bunch of stylish, beautiful women who find me intriguing (And by that I of course mean my wife). We’ll enjoy a couple of cold ones and then head on our way.

Do what’s safe and legal. It sounds like you’re taking good precautions. I don’t even feel safe DRIVING on the streets in Rockville, so I certainly don’t blame you for not wanting to bike there.

That is helpful, thanks. Now just have to see if I can make it there next Thursday . . .

Oops. I “got lost” on my ride home today and went 6.6 miles instead of three or so. How silly of me.

I was riding home past the Capitol in road biking gear (bibs and jersey) and a very nice Indian tourist asked me to take a picture. Not of him, with him. Somewhere on Facebook there’s an Indian profile with a confused-looking guy on a road bike standing with a tourist in front of the Capitol.

Your picture is probably tagged “Lance Armstrong”.

To be fair, for the most part I’m all about the most efficient/convenient method of transportation. Often walking is easiest. Sometimes it’s the bus, occasionally it’s the Metro, regrettably it’s sometimes the car. But the more I bike, the more often it looks like biking is the most efficient/convenient. CaBi was definitely my gateway drug, though. That and having a boss with 10 bikes in his basement who rides one of them to work every day.

The black is a little too plain. I don’t know if I’d go with lilac fenders, but you need a little bit of color somewhere.

And since I’m working at home today, I just biked to the grocery store instead of walking to Target to get a few things.
