This url: https://freezingsaddles.org/pointless/hashtag/bafsmetro will show you anyone who uses that hashtag. I can make it an actual menu item if you want, and if that isn’t showing the way you want it to, let me know and i can probably accommodate.

Atlas. An old favorite. I had the Resilience IPA, which helps support some charity but I didn’t like all that much, and the Apricot IPA, which is extremely apricot-y and unexpectedly good. The kids rode their own bikes so if they were legally able to drink they would have gotten a point too

My kids are getting really competitive about this – they’re arguing who is going ride to school on Wednesdays. Usually they have a regular schedule M-T-TH-F and switch off Wednesdays, but now that they’re on a leaderboard they both want Wednesdays

God bless @obscurerichard for taking this on. He’s spending an incredible amount of time, night/day/weekend on all of this. I am completely swamped at work, so I have absolutely zero regrets for stepping away from this madness :) — Except that I feel bad for Richard (especially where lack of documentation etc. adds to the learning curve of the current software). A lot of external deps changed this year, though — changes to Strava authorization being particularly significant and disappearance of wunderground for weather data. So this is no small effort. And, of course, he’s doing this almost completely alone.

I finally got my dev environment working yesterday, so I’ll be helping a bit more from here on out, but not nearly as much as I’d like to. As always, anyone with coding experience (Especially Python) is very welcome to help out with the website and backend.

Wife just offered to take both of the kids on the longtail to the park where a furloughed fed friend is going to take them swimming. Gremlin2 says she wants to ride her own bike, Gremlin1 doesn’t.

“Good, then I’m going to have more points [on the Pointless Kid Leaderboard] than you.” — Gremlin2

We just have to say that for liability reasons.

For the “#withkid” standings that this expands upon, the age-limit is 14.

I think 14 is a good limit. If you have a 15-17 year old and want to make your case that it should count, BAFS is a democracy in some sense of the word.

The Pointless Kid leaderboard is now live. Get out there and ride with your kids! Or someone else’s kids, so long as you have permission.

Is it really Freezing Saddles if the temperature is rising overnight? I got a late start on #FS2019, rolling out at 00:00:02 in the drizzly mist for a 10 km ride.

No. It’s 60 degrees out here, BAFS is cancelled.

I know, everyone puts the L in. I stopped getting (actually) mad about it years ago.

The car company is French, my last name, I think, is Belgian. My 10th or so great-grandfather came over to the UK in the early 1600s, and my grandfather brought the name to the States for WWII RAF training. And here we are.

I’m going to fight my co-captain Adam Hunter for superiority AND chuxtr for putting an “L” in my last name. Bring on the fisticuffs.
