I thought that got “fixed” this year to base everything on Eastern time.
Nothing involving computers and dates is ever “fixed”

Didn’t know about https://freezingsaddles.org/my/rides.json
Pretty convenient for debugging/troubleshooting purposes.
If you don’t have the database credentials, yeah

Hi Tech Gurus,
I have ridden every day, but the leaderboard shows me one day short. The dropped day was probably in early February, at least that seems to be when I stopped turning green every day. I am not missing big miles, but the Team won’t mind if my day’s point are restored. I just want credit for everyday riding– I’m up here at 10,000 feet in snow and ice, earning my Freezing Saddles cred, and have not missed a day in 4 years.
Thanks! Kate MOI requested to follow you on Strava but actually don’t need to, I figured it out. It is, once again, a function of time zones. Freezing Saddles counted your 2/19 ride as happening on 2/20 because we normalize to east coast time. I always forget – we count days based on local time where the ride happened, is that right?

ParticipantQuick ride on a Spinlister rented bike in NC visiting my brother and his family. I had to walk the last 200 yards because the road this brewery is on is NOT bikeable. Although I have to say that every driver I encountered gave me plenty of space.
Pictured is their Pumpernickel IPA, which was weird, but if you order a pumpernickel IPA and don’t expect weird, I’m not sure there’s much hope for you. I also had a lemon haze pale ale that was extremely lemony (made more so by the slice of lemon in it). All in all I recommend the place (great outdoor space) but don’t bike there (no bike parking, you’ll die on the road to get there).

ParticipantYeah, Weather Underground killed their API, and we never identified a replacement. I would not count on weather data for the balance of this year’s competition.

ParticipantIt’s up now. Some scary error messages from the server, though, We’ll keep an eye on things.

ParticipantWe’re aware and looking into it, thanks

Obscure Richard: You do not need to hear the long and torturous story of my Garmin woes. However, I had to do a SOFT RESET today. My long ride of today labeled MIKE’S 80th BIRTHDAY PARTY (image attached) is on my desktop Strava, but I cannot see it on my feed.
I just wanted to make sure that those miles made it into my data. Kindly confirm. Many thanks, Jessica Hirschhorn
How many miles do you think you have for the year? Strava says you have 1186, BAFS has pulled in 1183. That ride IS in the database so it should be counted in your mileage.

…martini ride — wait, that last one is probably a bad idea…!)
As in all things, mixing bikes and alcohol is all about moderation. Or having a sober friend with a car and a bike rack.

It was jus a Strava meeting. Nothingburger.
Unlike Congress, the BAFS web team does not tolerate appearances of impropriety.

Did i crash freezingsaddles.org? I was looking at the individual leaderboard (text) and refreshed the page successfully. When i clicked on my name i got an error, something like “internal server..” when I refreshed the page again I got a 502 Bad Gateway nginx error. I was using mobile safari, but I also tried mobile chrome and got the same error. This was at about 12:10 1/30/19.
OMG YOU BROKE EVERYTHING IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT
Just kidding. It’s nearly if not completely impossible for you to cause a 502 error by viewing the website, although providing the page, the error you got, the time, and browser you were using is in general very helpful for debugging, so thanks for that.
It’s back up now – you probably caught the site right as the crew of relief hamsters was climbing into the wheels for their shift.

ParticipantWhile I completely agree that he should have gotten more time, I’m actually encouraged by this. Usually this is just treated as a big whoopsie and he’d get a moving violation and maybe a few points. It’s generally really difficult to get jail time for killing someone with your car as long as you’re sober. If he’d stayed on the scene he probably wouldn’t have even gone to trial.

I just want to say that the time spent to make this whole thing was well worth it (and probably took quite a while!). Kudos to all those who set up and maintain the IT aspect. I understood only a tiny slice of that original post, and couldn’t tell if you were just f-ing around and writing nonsense or not (looks like not).
Thanks again and keep it up!
When in doubt, buy hozn or obscurerichard a beer. They deserve it
