ParticipantI don’t know much about the National Bike Challenge, although if it’s structured differently this year than the past I have nothing to worry about. I’m tentatively interested, and I should be around in May and able to ride a reasonable amount.

ParticipantSomewhat off-topic: Took Lawyers Rd in both directions, Maple to/from Twin Branches, for the first time today (and not realizing how clear the trail was in the evening until I reached Vienna). I was pleasantly surprised by how considerate/reasonable the drivers were. I pulled into a side street about halfway each time to let the accumulated cars through, but was without incident. No aggressive passes or anything.
For the sake of the thread: W&OD between Vienna and the Custis is clear, only thing that might be questionable tomorrow is Citizen’s Bridge.

ParticipantI’ll nominate Brian M (bmillah) from Team 19. He’s been ridiculously consistent and dedicated at getting his rides in. It seems like they’re all between 9pm and 1am, but I guess that’s what having real responsibilities means. He’s taken a nasty fall but was back on the bike, no days missed. Brian was a speed demon on the one Penguins group ride we’ve had.
Here’s to the (I’m assuming) king of the Paul Revere midnight rides.

Anyone who takes Freezing Saddles as a real competition – and is getting pissy about the number of riders – obviously did not play enough Calvinball. Its not a real competition. It could never be a real competition. You want a real competition? Go crash in an underground garage in Crystal City on Wednesday nights. Freezing Saddles is a goofy way for friends on the forum to endure the slings and arrows of Boreas. If you are attempting to school the volunteers on how they should run Freezing Saddles, can I suggest that there are lots of other competitive outlets where you might enjoy yelling at the refs more. Have you considered enrolling your kid in travel hockey?
I’ve been doing all these things, but it’s just not enough. Gotta get me a kid so I can scream at the refs and get some sweet #kidical points.

ParticipantI believe I have four Fancies and four Sporties, so I could go either way. Not planning on making WTFCC, but I’ll be at the Third Thursday HH tomorrow.

ParticipantPatty F and Lynn S have both contributed over 25% of their respective teams’ points. One of them might have one, would be helpful when putting their team on their back.

ParticipantI really wanted to take the lead here, so I wiped out twice at Wednesday Night Spins today. First time was in that slick spot halfway through the first lap, but at least I was moving slowly, and by the time I was moving again I was lapped. Second time happened about 6 minutes from the end, and somehow I slid out on a wide turn and probably went 30 feet with my bike. Bars got knocked out of position and I figured it wasn’t worth getting back in it, so DNF for me. I did come down on both sides, so at least the bruises won’t be too concentrated

Proposed ordinance: If a pilgrim finds a Calvinball, then they receive N bonus points where N is the miles of the ride where the Calvinball was found. Provide a screenshot of the ride on Strava for verification.

ParticipantI have rescued vicegrip’s Calvinball from the outer reaches of the known universe, and enjoyed the life-giving elixir on site. Will post later today with the hide details.

ParticipantGot an oatmeal stout, but don’t remember the name. I ordered it for its restorative powers and it worked. It was very refreshing. I also found $100 on the floor.
