Participant45mph top speed and 2.5kw battery is not an e-bike, it’s a motorcycle. I do wish, though that the tax benefit would include actual e-bikes (20mph top speed and weigh no more than 100lbs etc) because they are way more energy efficient than any plug in car or motorcycle.

For commuting, switching from clippless to flat platform pedals. The number of times clipping in/out has taken its toll on my right knee. I’m glad I switched.HIT

Sorry. I should have got this out last night when I first saw it.
There’s no good ride around and people like to do illegal right turns on red from Ft. Myer Dr. Be very careful. I almost had a head-on collision this morning with a guy who didn’t even pretend to stop at his red light… or pay attention to the orange cones.
Hugs and kisses,
Pete
Thanks for the report – I took this as an opportunity to go my alternate route through Rosslyn on lee hwy. down that hill at 40mph is fun every once in a while! Only do that on clear days, but its fun!

ParticipantIt was cold, but I was surprised how many bikers there were on the WOD and custis this morning.

ParticipantI learned the hard way that parking garages are coated with a surface that is similar to the white lines and are very slippery when wet!

I’ll take a stick-shift with my next bicycle, please:
HT:boinboingThat looks a lot like my first bike. Schwinn scrambler with a sissy bar and slick rear tire. I didn’t have the stick shift but that was cool.

ParticipantWhat I want to know is how they enforce the watt limit.

ParticipantI don’t really mind being momentarily blinded by a bright light while bike commuting, what I don’t like is being yelled at. I stopped driving and taking metro because I was getting stressed out by the time I got to work. Getting yelled at and told to F off ruins what should be a nice stress free commute.
I’ll try not to shine my light anywhere near another biker for the rest of the winter!jnva
ParticipantThat darn cat – I almost hit him the other day. Oops I should have put this in the missed connection thread, sorry!

ParticipantYes I agree about the high beams, But i didn’t have them on. This is why I am baffled, I couldn’t have done anything different other than pass him faster but that would have been unsafe on that section. Dude was just angry I almost think he thought I was ELITE because he kept saying “f– off faster faster!”

ParticipantOh yeah right should have put it there!
Wasn’t a completely missed connection, because I attempted to talk to angry guy but failed…

ParticipantI would have blasted past that cop on my electric power-assisted bicycle so he wouldn’t have been able to stop me.

ParticipantI saw three delivery trucks and a car parked in the bike lane at around 9:45am. I still have not seen it all clear!

ParticipantHa – I was right behind you for a couple of blocks. It was funny watching the sidecar “helper” accelerate from a stop.
