TUESDAY March 12: Play hookey! Take a sick day!

Join me Tuesday, March 12 for one of my favorite rides: Hains Point to Lake Artemesia, with a side visit to the Shortcake Bakery in Hyattsville.

We will meet at the HP Golf Course Parking lot (972 Ohio Drive, SW) at 10:15 for 10:30 wheels out. From there we will cross the river, pass the Wharf, Yards Park, The Navy Yard, and head over the 11th St Bridge to the Anacostia River Trail, which we will follow up to Lake Artemesia, about 17 miles of relatively flat well maintained trails. The trail goes through beautfiul woods and fields, and by the Anacostia River.

We will stop at Bladensburg Waterfront Park for a bathroom break.

We will take a spin around Lake Artemesia (stopping for a bathroom break and photo op).

On the way back we will stop by Shortcake Bakery in Hyattsville, a very short detour off the trail, for treats and drinks.

We will cross the river on the way back, taking the trail by the wonderful scenic Kingman Island, for a brief stop and photo op.

    36 miles RT.

    Social Pace

    No drop.

Please bring water, snacks, and a lock.

Yeah hooray! Balances the US Park Police car that ran a stop light to take a FAST right turn and nearly hit me while I was in the crosswalk with the WALK sign. Nice to know.

I have 1186. I lost 3 last week in the Ag Reserve when the Garmin lost Satellite. Sound like all accounted for. Thanks for following that up. Hoping that the Garmin will behave from now on.

Obscure Richard: You do not need to hear the long and torturous story of my Garmin woes. However, I had to do a SOFT RESET today. My long ride of today labeled MIKE’S 80th BIRTHDAY PARTY (image attached) is on my desktop Strava, but I cannot see it on my feed.

I just wanted to make sure that those miles made it into my data. Kindly confirm. Many thanks, Jessica Hirschhorn

GRRRRR. What do you have to do these days to get some Strava RESPECT? I record on Garmin, and it downloads to Strava, and recorded my walking of my bike fine, at a killer pace of 2.4 mph. Heck, it was uphill through 8″ of snow…

Unicycle in the snow. There must be some pointless prize for that. Boy. Taking it FOR THE TEAM, Ted. Well done.

Jessica H, Chris W, Sarah B and HF cycled to Anacostia Park this morning and spent an hour picking up garbage (LOTS of styrofoam!) and recyclables. Documenting for KOT and QOT Points.
