ParticipantI think it would be safer than looking down at the Garmin/Cateye on the handlebars.

ParticipantThanks for the posts. Always looking for new rides!

ParticipantAs a runner, I am very thankful for the gravel. It’s much better surface for my knees and gets me away from Lance Armstrong. The W&OD team are excellent in keeping the trail clean and debris free.

ParticipantInclude a picture. I think these are on my Fuji road bike. Sounds like the spring is not set correctly.
My other theory is that your cable is kinked. take it off the brake and see if it slides well. Also, with the cable off, check that the brakes squeeze and return correctly.

ParticipantFail? It still works. I have two Garmins that didn’t fair after a similar fall.

ParticipantI’m a 25 year mtnbiker and 10 year roadie and commuter. I mtn bike 1x week, road bike 1x and commute 2-3x. I’m also a 15 year runner 4x week. I like to be outdoors!

ParticipantI flatted for the first time this year with a pair of gatorskins but not that impressive.

ParticipantThe majority of these riders are not experienced cyclists, but new commuters. They are looking for an easy way to start bike commuting without the pain and sweat.
It’s not much different than a moped. The lack of petrol doesn’t really change that they are riding twice as fast as the idiots (like me) thinking we are Lance A. Do we allow all two (three?) wheel travel and impose speed limits?

ParticipantI will stay. Posting to preserve my account.

ParticipantI use minimal lights myself. I find that the darkest of mornings on the trail don’t need require mt Mtn Bike lights. For those oncoming riders, please, please, please simply cover your light when you pass. Some of those lights are brighter than a car.
Sorry to whomever I yelled HIGHBEAMS!! last week

ParticipantI almost had the exact same thing happen to me on the WO&D near Smiths Switch. They were running scared at dark on the gravel road at about 25 MPH. When the trails crossed, they came flying across and I missed them by 5′.
