Zonks, what a late night PITA! Maybe remove the stem completely and slightly start each pinch bolt before placing the stem back on. It may be the top screw is adding some pressure that is misaligning them. Sorry that is all I can think of as I watch the cool lightning storm.

I already fixed the bars, and there is really no damage to the bike except little scuffs on the shifters, but seriously! I haven’t even had this bike for a week!
    Ow…

Sorry about the crash. It is terrible to say, but I bet most crashes happen in the first week of a new bike. New brakes, new geometry, new tires often equals uncertainty.
On the plus side, you definitely look bad-ass, road rash is the new mamil tattoo. My wife says they make me look ten years younger,,,,,, and dumber.

BTW, you can replace that shifter cover pretty cheaply. Look on ebay, i think i got a pair for $10— same thing as you, new bike and crashed.

The very important thing to remember in all this statistical analysis, is that Butler (Rule #10) didn’t lap us! ;) Way to go on the PR!

About a month ago i did a fondo in my normal fondo style of suppressing a heart attack while gasping for air. As I was crawling up a monstrous hill in the typical mamil attire, this guy in sandals passes me with surprising ease. I had the greatest urge to hit the hippie with a lava lamp.
I have never had a problem with sandals on bikes until that day.

Nice crank! You were moving. I got caught by myself on the last lap and felt like I was alone in a windy desert.
Looking at the times, just curious, does anyone know the guy who came in first. Looks like he crushed everybody on the final lap with 27mph average. He had to do the entire final lap solo.

I picked up my packet today, too! Of course, I went to the wrong Crystal City Marriott at first, but luckily the bellhops knew that registration was at the other Marriott and gave me directions there.

I blocked my number out for privacy reasons (i.e., no one else can make a fake one with my number and DQ me because of it)

Just so you know, because of inflation six laps ain’t gonna buy what it used to. Less time this year. And am I right, longer? You’ll have to cook it this year. I always looked better in silver anyway

Didn’t realize they are boasting it is going to be over 10K this year. This is no longer in the century category but appears to be more like a fondo, ala MoM and Alpine. Sniffing flowers and taking pictures of cows is going to be a tad bit harder when you are suppressing a heart attack.

I think the washington lee high school pool still only charges a couple bucks just to use the showers. Yea they even charge me, a teacher who works there, go figure. But, being around teenagers all day, I have come to the conclusion no matter how much I stink, it is pretty much par for the course, and skip it.
