I wouldn’t use it on the WOD and the such, but for back woods and dark open roads, this cheap knockoff gets pretty good reviews http://www.amazon.com/Lumen-Bicycle-HeadLight-Flashlight-Headlamp/dp/B006QQX3C4/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A5WO6IE2K5AZW
My buddy has it and likes it and for $20 I ordered one.

Anybody else’s circadian rhythm off. I was like a vampire on this morning’s ride. I was racing to beat the sunrise, all the time not realizing i was 10 minutes earlier than Friday. This sucks, because now that it is light out, i have to wake up early to do my hair and put on my make-up now that people can actually see me.

I always heard that is a tough trail to do on a cross bike. It looks like you had both, any thoughts?

Trying to get a jump start on Strava’s latest hill challenge. Picked a beautiful day to do Skyline. Went from Front Royal to Big meadows and back.
    Midway

Finishing the nasty return climb to Hogback, notice the Just-Shoot-Me face. I would have welcomed an impaling from a rabid deer.

Yea, sure the fall leaves were in full bloom- yadayada. Yea, sure I saw a bear – big orange-whip. Let’s face it, after a long crank on Skyline, there is nothing sexier than a double bacon cheeseburger and fries from Spelunkers. Yes, of course I got a chocolate shake.

Just curious, did elevation count as points last year?

I just look away from oncoming lights and don’t freak out about things I can’t control.

    Agreed
Also, my morning commute has number of what appear to be novice riders. The thought of them taking their hand of the bar to frantically fumble for a curtesy cover may turn out more ugly than it is worth. I rather take the 3 millisecond hit. I almost lost it yesterday, covering the light on the Roosevelt boardwalk. I rather them be safe and bright, and they will slowly learn with time.

What to do with an old heart rate monitor? Tweak it and add a little power!

Did not play last year, but intend to join the reindeer games this year. In an attempt to be hip and learn the lingo, what is a “Sleaze ride”?

I have minimal time to ride on the weekends, though, so no getting to go ride Murderers Row or retrace Kill Bill.

    Where is Murderers Row?

Thanks all, good to know. I need to bulk up to keep up with the Freezing Saddle Wackos this winter. I already have a head start on a nice layer of blubber.

Yea, the thought of doing the MOCO twice on my 1990’s Mt. Tam, no matter how classic it is, ain’t gonna happen. If this happens, it will be all road, except for my upcoming last place finish in this weekend’s CX torture race.

Eastern market. On a nice fall days like this, nothing looks
better than our fair city. Bring a lock, stroll around, get coffee
And pick-a-little-shop-a-little, read the various menus and you pick
    Or eat street food.

    Fellas,
Thanks for including W-L Bike Club on the Blog List. We are really fortunate to have a great club president, Peter. He is only in 10th grade but he is really active, and shows tremendous initiative. We have been on a lot more rides this year, and more involved in bike related activities. Hopefully you will see us out there helping Tim hand out lights.
Also, Peter was able to get our club shirts together. Check them out on the site ( I’ll have to check, but I think they are available if anyone is interested).

Was it just me, or was the Columbia Pike/WOD light ridiculously long tonight? There was a line of cars on Four Mile that looked like it went down to Weenie Beenie. In fact, a cop car was waiting and he pulled out of line and hit his lights to make a turn. I was the first bike at the light and by the time it turned, there were at least ten bikes waiting. Went later in the car with the wife, and waited forever for it to turn. Seems fishy, or I’m just getting antsy.
