The mushroom one was great! Lots of filling. The official veggie taco was mostly rice and beans but the veggies on top were nice and fresh!

Haha. You sound exactly like me on this one. I was just going to pass and not worry about it.

Always an option! But weren’t you the one giving us all those anagrams? Sort of similar, but less prescribed, I guess.

Okay, since this will be the first (and last!) Wordle for me, how does this work?

When you say a link to whatever puzzle you choose, are we talking about a link to Wordle like you just gave? Or, after you solve it, a link to something that shows all those green and yellow boxes like the ones I’ve been filtering out of my Facebook feed? Or a link that shows the actual word?

If you fail to solve a Wordle, does it still tell you what the answer was? And even if it does, can you use that word if you didn’t solve the Wordle? Or do you have to keep trying other puzzles until you solve one?

Assuming the link doesn’t show the actual word (because if it did, legions of Wordle fans would rise up to destroy you for giving it away), how do you explain the connection between that koala and your picture without letting the world know that the word is koala?

The spirit of Wordplay Wednesday is to encourage you solve a puzzle yourself without peaking here first, but no one’s going to check. No need to display your colored squares! Given the vastness of the world wide web I’m sure there are ways to find out the Wordle answer of the day without actually attempting to solve the puzzle yourself. Or you could always just wait until someone else posts here if trying it out is particularly objectionable or doesn’t fit into the day.

The reason the instructions say to post the link is just in case someone chose to use a different puzzle, we could all see what daily puzzle they picked.

Maybe there’s not a big overlap between cold weather cyclists and puzzle aficionados, or maybe there is, who knows? This theme was one way to force a tiny bit of spontaneity since no one knows the word in advance, not even the organizers :)

Some scavenger hunt days are meant to be easy, some harder, some requiring keener powers of observation, some involving creativity to make something basic appear more interesting or to stretch a definition if a certain object or theme can’t be found.

I might not be able to answer other questions before Wednesday, so…when in doubt, forge ahead boldly anyway!

I’m assuming that on Wednesday, we need not follow the rule about not bringing the item with us? Because asking to borrow a stranger’s phone to play Wordle might be a bit weird.

Rule still holds. Solve Wednesday’s unique daily puzzle online (e.g. at https://susie.rbrignall.org.uk/ or https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html), then go out on your bike and take a photo depicting whatever the answer is. So if the answer is KOALA, you get on your bike and hope to find an Australian eucalyptus-munching mammal, or something that will bring that to mind on your ride :)

Share your photo here with a link to whatever puzzle you chose. It just has to be one of the puzzles where the answer is a single word and it changes daily so we get the element of surprise!

As usual, be as creative as necessary. You all are rocking that!

Hope that makes sense. And apologies for getting the week’s themes up later than usual. Busy week!

    Have fun!

First, great to see the interest in the game!
Several people are getting close to Bingo (just 1 or 2 squares remaining).

    Some updates / reminders:
What will happen when someone posts “BINGO!” to the forum?

    • I’ll verify the Bingo (should be same day/next day).
    • I’ll need access to your Strava account (I’ll check you rode and posted the pics on your ride)
    • I’ll post verification to everyone here in the thread
    • Winner will get to select their prize (I have a couple choices)

Can we play again? YES !!!!!
Looks like we’ll have time for another game. If it takes longer than the end of Freezing Saddles, we’ll keep playing until a BINGO.

How and when will Game #2 start?

    • The day I verify Game #1 winner, I’ll post the call for Day#1 of Game #2
    • I’ll keep the same objects to find for game#2 (thought about swapping out some, but too complex)
    • By default, I will assume you want to keep your same card for Game #2
    • If you want a NEW card for Game #2, you have two choices:
      1. Ask me to select a card for you (I’ll post the card URL here & in the Google Tracking Sheet)
      2. Select a card yourself (most people did fine for Game#1, but some had issues)

Remember you must get a new card BEFORE Game#2 Starts….otherwise you will play with your current card

More Details –> How do you get a new Bingo card for Game #2 (if you want one)?

    1. Post here to ask me to select a card for you. I’ll select, and post your new Bingo card URL in the forum + in the Google Tracking Sheet (I’ll make a new tab for Game #2)
    2. If you want to select card yourself:

Thanks for this fun game! Are all the objects “thrown back into the hat,” so to speak, meaning will you possibly call some same objects again?

My photo in Strava is much better, but this one has part of my bike in the foreground.

In the daytime it’s much harder to appreciate the intricate lines on this sculpture.

    From the National Gallery website:
“David Smith worked as a welder in a car factory as a young man. Later, he emerged as a sculptor within the context of the New York School in the 1940s and 1950s, and applied his industrial skills to his art-making practice. He said of his preferred medium, welded steel: “The metal itself possesses little art history. What associations it possesses are those of this century: power, structure, movement, progress, suspension, brutality.” Smith most often created works in series, culminating in the 1960s with his celebrated “Cubi” sculptures made of cubic or cylindrical shapes precisely crafted, assembled, and polished by the artist. “I depend a great deal on the reflective power of light,” he said.”

Remembered that I didn’t post this when the forum had the photo glitch though it was in Strava. Handmade tortillas were good. Brussels sprouts and mushrooms were pretty good but got gobbled before the photo. Tasted B partner’s shrimp, pretty salty.
