I saw that boat at the Alexandria waterfront they named after that chick from Harry Potter. The Hermoine Granger.

Today was my first commute back to work since the first week of April and the birth of our first child. I’m dreadfully out of shape…again. However it was so nice be back on the path. It’s the first time I’ve ridden up the CCT since the leaves opened up. It’s so beautiful, peaceful and quiet. With the exception of me panting, grunting and swearing…

    So stinkin’ cute

I love that the main photo has a dude in spandex on what’s probably a carbon bike in the background.

Man…the symbolism..The spandex clad hero riding off into the sunset…His day is over, his battles won, a relic fading off into the distance. Yet, running right to you staring into your very soul is blondie in a tank top and yoga pants, she is smirking…SMIRKING. Her day has come…They are the new tomorrow.

Good article though, I got my wife a Public last year just for these reasons.

    Hey team,

I know FS is long over, but I got to be rather close with many of you. Some of you know I mentioned the health issues for our coming baby, and now we are so close. We are due for induction this Wednesday. We put together a blog so we can keep friends and family updated about our baby and what happens in the coming months. I wanted to share a link with you guys so you can keep tabs on everything.

I know this is kind of impersonal and may not be the best place to post it, but aside from the BA forum I don’t have a way to contact many of you.

    Best wishes fellow bears. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/thefingermanfamily

When do folks think they will start showing up down there? I was thinking I would get there around 8 and probably only ride there for like two hours. I am not tough enough to ride until 1130.

I’m probably going to be there around 7 or 7:30 or so and follow a similar schedule. I just don’t know how to recognize other BAFS people. Aside from riding by everybody saying “Freezing saddles? Freezing saddles?”

I have a blue BA forum tag hanging off my seatbag! And a Bianchi.

Ya know, everyone keeps talking about how epic this pie day was–3/14/15 etc. But no one ever mentions how we missed an even better one–3/14/1592 6:53:59. I wonder if there was a good bike ride that day?

Probably. After all the witches were burned of course….http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Berwick_witch_trials

Twice for me. Once during the first week, which banged me up pretty good, and a less severe one on Tuesday this week, where the one tiny patch of ice on the CCT at the DC/MD line took me out as I rode about 2 mph over it trying to “be careful of the ice.” Other people walked their bikes around it just in front of me…I was like….pshhhh..I can ride over this. But I failed.

I think I have whiplash and my butt has a bruise. I’m glad I have ample padding.

I would like to see some pictures from the event, it sounds like it was a fun thing to do. Too bad I don’t 1. Race, 2. Cyclocross.

The conditions were perfect for my preferences, too bad my health wasn’t. Riding my CX bike in the slop is something I cherish, since outside of races I refrain from doing that.

I was feeling a little ill before the start. After about 12 miles of going reasonable hard, the illness really began to express itself. After that point, I putzed along not going hard enough to make myself breath hard at all. At the end of the first lap I dropped. Was very cool to be going along super slow and watch so many people pass me. That really is the best way to watch a bike race.

Sorry you aren’t feeling well. My suggestion for you is to get lots and lots of rest. Stay off the bike for 3-5 days and drink lots of fluids. We look forward to your speedy recovery and good health!

It didn’t, but we had SECOND PLACE for 20 or so minutes! I still think it’s a hell of an achievement! GO BEARS!

MVT from Slaters lane to 14th st bridge. Clear except for 2 small patches of ice where the trail goes under the 14th st bridge. The usual places. Passable if you take it slow. I unclipped just in case.

from 14th St. Bridge to CCT. The volleyball courts just past memorial bridge are a nightmare. Ice, slush, mud on the side if you try to go around. I rode with my feet down, and slowly. I figure by the end of the day they will be much better. Otherwise, I would recommend going from Ohio drive around the Lincoln memorial and back down the other side bypassing them

CCT clear except for 2 spots, just before going into the tunnel (if heading southbound) there is a 15 ft or so section of ice and frozen slush. The other spot is right after the bridge by the reservoir. There is a 30-40 ft section of black ice/frozen slush right at the DC/MD line. I watched several people walk their bike around it, but I rode slow through it.

Edit: Was riding 25mm slicks on my road bike.
