It sucks pretty bad. A bunch of abandoned driveway entrances (there apparently was housing there) and irregular surfaces. I will probably set my rear blinkeys to stun and take the lane. Probably not for the faint of heart.

The bike “path” ran along the Glebe Rd. sidewalk from 1980 (when the trail under the bridges to the airport was finished) until around 1990, when the trail was extended through the treatment facility in its current alignment.

Common issue. I’ve been commuting on a 1990 Trek 950 for a few years and the original rear wheel is near the end of it’s long life. I’ll most likely buy a prebuilt set of 26″ wheels to replace the originals, and they will have 135mm rear dropout spacing, whereas the frame has 130mm spacing. I would rather not cold-set the frame for 135mm, or build a custom wheel for an aging bike if I don’t have to. Can I just reuse the axle from the old 130mm hub in the 135mm hub?

I would also use the 135 hub. If you are still using a 7 speed cassette, you will need a 4.5 mm spacer behind the cassette on the new hub.
