ParticipantAhhh- this is an Ultegra cassette with a carrier for 8 of 10 gears not individual cogs. Also- that photo was 4 months ago… now it’s really bad. The whole carrier is jammed on and I haven’t been able to dislodge it with a whip or even a screwdriver.

I think if you just create a “Club” and invite your friends you will be able to see just your group’s times on segments. Not sure there’s anything with monthly mileage though.
(On the segment leaderboard page, there’s a filter on the left which includes “My Clubs”.)
Yup- that worked. Didn’t realize that was how Strava looked at “Clubs”
Thanks!

ParticipantIs there a way to set up a challenge group separate from the dashboard? I have a Red Lobster dinner riding on beating mileage among friends from London (he’s doomed anyway), Phoenix (gonna melt) and San Fran (a real contender). We are all Strava users but it would be great to be able to compare stats 4×4 instead of 2×2 or even “challenge” another user to beat a segment time, monthly mileage or the like.

There’s one out near Leesburg. If you google “Freedom Center Pump Track Leesburg” you’ll find info on it. There’s one in Elkridge, MD too. http://www.rockburnskillspark.org/
Freedom Center has a pump track? How did I miss that? Oh yeah… I was freezing and wet at Snotcycle…

Awesome, I didn’t know about the pump track. Can’t wait to take the kiddos.
Are there any pump tracks in VA? I’d love to get my little guy on one…

ParticipantAhhh another local character (that I forgot on my list of “encounters”)! I see him many mornings on WO&D EB often diligently removing the signs of his passing (bag in hand). That scooter is something else- big platform, dual discs and meaty tread and the dogs always look like they are having a heck of a good time.

The first time I encountered you…
Dirt, how does it feel to be someone that is “encountered”? I pass people, meet people, ride with people all the time but I only “encounter” crazy folks, wheelie guy, the Unicycle commuter, backwards dude, annnnd you… I think that makes you part of DC biking lore

I haven’t tried it but Tim’s link sounds like it might help for cropping just a part of a ride:.
Noop. There may be a page error- loading just my segment on the overall segment leaderboard just bounced back to the leaderboard.
At least with my app (Cyclemeter) ANT+ speed/cadence data will trump gps data in the ride record thus reducing gps coverage errors- it would have recorded my actual speed up the hill not the time between GPS samples.

Hehe, yeah I used to be KOM on that segment due to similar GPS weirdness/false data.
You’re KOM again. Long live the king of the tiny hill!

ParticipantBummer- I couldn’t find a way to flag just the segment, had to flag the entire ride which had 3 legit PRs. Looks like it worked. Sigh, easy come, easy go.
My bad for not using a proper GPS or even ANT+

ParticipantHow do I fix a crazy time from a gps data error on Strava?
http://app.strava.com/segments/1030765
I’m KOM at Brandywine Castle with a 58mph/830w/4 second climb… I like to think that I’m burly but it would take a catapult to make that. Meanwhile I’m holding up the KOM spot on a climb that some folks (including me) like to work on. I tried going to the segment and then to my time but the only “action” that I can find is to flag the segment as hazardous. Any guidance?

Call further back – not off someone’s shoulder – and you will never startle them.
Tell that to the ear-bud ninjas.
Me: 75′- “Onnnn your left”; 50′- “On. Your. Left.”
; 25′- “Onyourleft” ; 15′- (hard braking); 0′ “FRREEEEDDDDOOMMMMMM!!!!” Them: “Hey! Say something when you pass!…”
Me: Shakes head, mutters something about ninjas. Gestures eating ear bud.

Startling someone is better than not calling a pass IMHO.
Couldn’t disagree more- in a lot of situations one is a courtesy, the other can result in a real accident. I’ve had earphone zombies and little kids freak out and jag HARD left when they swivel their heads over their shoulder. In the case of a clean and wide pass (5’+) with kids in particular (and anyone wearing both ear buds in general) I rarely make so much as a peep and a freewheel. Do you honk your car horn when you pass someone on the sidewalk? If you did, it would probably scare the heck out of them.
Pass smart, pass safe, gauge the benefit of the warning in a given situation.

I really appreciate all the warnings. I was only paying attention to other humanoid obstacles on the trail in the past, and never thought about the furry obstacles. After seeing quite a few deer out on my “pleasure” rides this weekend, I realize how dangerous the CCT could’ve been with me not even considering a collision with deer, etc. It will definitely be at the front of my mind now!
I came within a hair’s breadth of one of THESE incidents on the WO&D just past Hunter Mill late in fall, spooked a deer who cleared the trail but there was a second one in the bushes that nearly got me.

ParticipantOK, I just joined Strava and figured out how to manually upload post ride data from Cyclemeter (history – email export – attach GPX to uploads@strava.com no txt in the email) but does anyone know how to get legacy data into Strava? Manually uploading 400+ rides isn’t going to happen. I like the Cyclemeter app quite a bit better than Strava’s- it sure would be nice if there were a way to link the two.
