ParticipantSo now we have three dockless scooter operations in DC. Waybots, LimeBike, and now Bird.
Bird’s founder is at least publicly committed “to give a share of their revenue, $1 per vehicle per day, to build bike lanes, promote safe riding, and maintain shared infrastructure. He also urged the operators to commit to keep track of their bikes and scooters, ensuring they are not cluttering neighborhoods, and to not add more vehicles unless each is getting at least three uses daily.”

ParticipantMy first stop at the LFL&BRS today, so cool! The tools and tire pump were all intact and the geocache safely in the attic.

I’m nearly certain Lynne S on Legal from Las Vegas is a rookie (Sunyata can confirm). To paraphrase from “Major League”: She’s gonna win the whole damn thing! She just went over 4,000 miles yesterday! What more needs to be said?
Heh, no. Lynn is one of the superwomen of cycling, and I was lucky to have her on my team last year. She’s already a Guinness world record holder, and about to go for a second. Major league, not a rookie!

Did they close for good?
With paper on the windows, nobody answering the phone, and staff sent home abruptly it sure looks permanent. Local press got an anonymous tip a week ago.
It’s been our mainstay for those don’t feel like cooking, wanna go out for a beer nights, and I can walk or CaBi there. I’m verklempt.

So the interwebs are saying that the Cap City Brewing in Shirlington has closed suddenly. We’ve lost a favorite Third Thursday haunt.
That sucks.

ParticipantMe: Northbound MVT approaching turn onto the 14th St bridge. Looked behind and saw no one, slowed down gradually, gave a long full-arm left turn signal, and made a gradual wide turn leaving plenty of room for someone coming downhill in the opposite lane.
You: Appeared out of nowhere and screeched your brakes behind me, as though I’d done something unpredictable and interrupted your morning hammerfest.
Dude, that was audacious and amateur. Just because you’re fast doesn’t mean you’re not an idiot.

Frequently parked in ShirlingtonThat’s an actual store/workshop out in Sperryville VA, which we pass on the way to SNP (via Thornton Gap) all the time, and it makes us laugh. They’ve been written about by Southern Living magazine and everything.

2/9 – Two fronzromm have been reported digging through the trash bins at Oakcrest Park in Arlington, hopefully you won’t have to.
1) A Bearded and a Thirsty fronzromm have been dissuaded from rustling through the trash in Oakcrest Park.

Lil Thirsty gets to go to work with me, then happy hour, then home. I’m a little afraid that with two Thirsty’s in the house unattended they’ll raid my liquor collection!

Nabbed! It’s probably sabotage to someone who’s actually playing to win, but this Thirsty is mine.

I wonder if dockless bikes entering into the Chinese market first has been the determining factor on the size of the bikes. It looks like from Google that average height for a male in China is 5.575′ and 5.975′ in the US.

Speakers on trails are a scourge.
In general I agree. I won’t blast mine loud enough to compete with external noise, so usually it’s off when I’m next to traffic or near Gravelly Point, say. But especially those rides home in the dark, on sections where I’m mostly alone, it’s entertaining to have music, volume just enough for my listening radius w/o inflicting it on everyone.
ShawnoftheDread would rather have a long, intense conversation with his riding pals – amIright?
