ParticipantLook carefully and tell us if one of these cyclists stole your water bottle.

ParticipantI biked over for a look this evening but could not get close enough to tell if they installed bollards or not. At 7 pm there was a lot of construction activity going on and there was some kind of barrier across the bike/ ped lane that really obscured the view. I guess we will have to wait and see.

ParticipantI plan to go by this evening and will let you know what I see. I have mixed feeling about bollards. I do hate them and the risks they pose to cyclists and peds. But I hate cars driving on bike/ped paths even more. So until we solve stupidity (or cars), I guess I will tolerate bollards. But not happily!

ParticipantI have averaged about 15 mph for the whole ride. It is a pretty brisk pace overall, but we regroup and keep track of each other so no one gets lost or truly dropped

ParticipantGlad you saw that! I guess we know why they were so determined to block the road. Well done for the bonus miles and for staying on the road!
Stay safe

ParticipantThanks Alan, I was out there today as well (in a car, sadly) and the roads generally are good, including Gregg, Zion, and 97. We will certainly be watchful, especially in the shaded areas and low points. My ride through Rock Creek Park this evening revealed a few icy spots that required delicate riding and in two cases walking and I expect it will be like that tomorrow.
Hope you get out tomorrow. Despite the cold and snow, the sun made for a pretty nice day! Be safe.

ParticipantFYI: I looked at the predicted temperature tomorrow and got cold feet, or was afraid of getting cold feet, so I am going to start a bit later to let things get close to freezing:
New start time: Leave Takoma Metro at 11:00
Leave French School at 11:20ishepilsk

ParticipantWell done, and at least it looks pretty! Glad you stayed upright and got those miles in. Well done. I tried to get my ride in on Saturday before the snow/ice started, and almost made it. When I got home my bike, tights, helmet, and jacket were covered in a layer of ice. My jacket felt like it had a coat of armor! Luckily to roads were well treated and I had no problems. Sunday I wanted until mid-afternoon and the roads were a bit damp but no ice and no problems.
Stay warm, dry, and safe!

ParticipantYour determination not to be deterred is inspiring! But, you should embrace those bonus miles

Warm and dry doesn’t seem like an option if you are on a bike!
Alan, i know you know there is no bad weather, only bad gear! Also, sleaze rides.

ParticipantThis is what I am talking about! Well done.

ParticipantThanks Merlin, I encountered that ice this evening. I will probably avoid it by taking
Kalmia down and using that cut through from Grubb Rd to Candycane park. Hope to see you tomorrowepilsk
ParticipantCorrection: Leave French School at 12:20!

ParticipantSo my deadline looms and a long ride is doomed. Stay warm and we will try again next week
