ParticipantThank you for sharing that, and my condolences for your loss. It was a struggle not to cry as I read this at work. I know for me, if I leave the house in the morning pre-stressed about the day ahead, or leave the office stressed about the day, the few miles of cycling helps dissipate the stress and restore some balance. Very glad cycling served as an anchor for you this difficult winter. And thank you for proving that this is not a pointless prize at all! Stay strong and keep on cycling!

ParticipantLiterally the Extra Mile! Well done

ParticipantThis is what I’m talking about! You made that trek every day to get your ride in? Well done.

ParticipantThat just sucks, and is so angering (and just rude, dangerous, and S$$tty). I hate that this is an entry here, but sending strong , positive thoughts to you for powering on. I hope your toe heals soon, and someone does something wonderful for you to offset this bit of crap.
Stay strong and safe!

ParticipantWell done! And I think we have an early leader this year. Stay safe out there.

ParticipantCarol,
I hope your injuries are not much worse than bruises and that you are healing up easily. And while I am glad to see that your submission is not really caused by electronics, I would much rather you struggle with devices than get hit by cars! Please stop that, and as always, job well done for getting the ride and miles in.

Participant@chill-dad: THIS is what the prize is all about! Well done.

ParticipantJoan,
That is both a beautiful and touching story, and an awesome display of FS determination! So sorry for you loss, but proud of those miles!

ParticipantYou are awesome!

ParticipantMaybe you should try harder not to win? Glad it all worked out safely, but that sounds like a scary evening in all ways. Please don’t keep these stories coming!

ParticipantAnother chapter in the forthcoming book: Carol v. Electronics. Amazing, impressive, and sooooo frustrating! And did you get one of the lanyard/pen things Nadine was selling at the Happy Hour?

ParticipantWow! Impressive stupidity! Well done

ParticipantImpressive! I thought that last night’s storm would generate an entry or two. I think you will get extra consideration because you did all of that for charity and for the greater good of FS2024. Well done, and I hope today was dryer and more consistently inflated!

ParticipantI am Eric Pilsk, also in Takoma Park, just up the hill from Merlin. I commute downtown daily and, weather and life permitting, get a good 20 miles a day. I love long rides and am happy to help organize a weekend team ride. My go-to longish ride is something around 65 miles out to one of the beer farms near Laytonsville (Elder Pine, Waredaca, or Brookeville), or just staying in RCP if the weather is not good. Lots of shorter (and longer!) options west through Potomac or north.

ParticipantI was also thinking something like Beach Drive Bombers? Life is a Beach (Dr.)?
