Doesnt’ really matter since today’s miles will not get me to 1500 points.-Mikey
Same here — I like the feeling of progress, though!
Thanks.

And why don’t they extend the (horrible) ramp up to the Custis at Spout Run along the parking lot to decrease the grade. A bike needs to stop there to safely get on the trail, and with that grade, starting from a stop is not easy.
Yes, I saw a woman almost get clobbered there trying to enter the trail this morning. It is also difficult to see what is coming your way when the sun is low on the horizon. I almost stopped and told her to ride through the parking lot and enter the trial at the little curb cut behind the CVS — that is the lesser of all evils when I am entering the trail there.

ParticipantHello —
Is anyone else having this problem? I rode 35 miles today (three different rides, the first at 8 a.m.), and when I go to my Endomondo personal page, they all show up. However, for purposes of the National Bike Challenge, the miles have not been added to my total and I accrued no points today. What is going on?
Thanks for any insight.

ParticipantI will come; had no success in persuading my husband to join us (our son is otherwise engaged tonight so we could actually have done this).

Me! Did you have panniers on your bike? You were coming the opposite direction?

ParticipantPeople, again, it is the House Committee where the action is at the moment. Eleanor Holmes Norton is a VOTING member of that committee; as far as I know, the only one from our region. So everyone here has representation in Congress on this issue. For once, the folks in DC have even more sway than the rest of us.

Just in case…
I wouldn’t recommend riding a single speed with a freewheel—you completely miss out on the control and feeling you get from adjusting your speed with every pedal stroke. Because you are still reliant on your brakes, you will end up riding the same way you do on a geared bike but without the benefit of the gears. Waste of time in my opinion unless you are just going for a look or ease of cleaning/maintenance.Okay, you just broke my 74-year-old mother’s heart. That is the only kind of bike she has ever ridden. And yes, she is still riding . . .

You’d be loving it today. Bayou la Batre and Biloxi were toasty today. Expecting similar in NOLA tomorrow.
You are going in the right direction! Say hi if you get to Galveston.

ParticipantOkay, what way was the wind blowing? Others are complaining of a headwind, but I felt like I had a tailwind.
I love the hot weather. I never complain in the summer — I save all that for the winter. Once a Gulf Coast girl, always a Gulf Coast girl. . . .

ParticipantI yield to consularrider’s superior technology.
But more hills are good, no? Just keep doing them both and don’t worry about which is steeper, I guess.

I keep a BikeArlington reflective band around my seatpost. sometimes I even wear my BikeArlington socks.
I did that for a while, but then it mysteriously disappeared when my bike was parked somewhere. Those things are highly coveted, apparently.

Not to diminish your efforts (and kudos on your KOM! I won’t tell Tim, I swear!), but I think the hill up to Jefferson is steeper. Try it at least and see what you think.

Was great to run into you! I love that jersey but the arms just don’t fit. Too small at the elastic band. It’s the only reason I don’t have a full closet of Twin Six jerseys, I love their designs. I’m actually wearing one of their t-shirts now.
Jersey fitting is such a complicated thing — I like Twin Six jerseys because they fit me so well (and their designs, of course). Certain other brands, not so well. I’m on a design committee for jerseys for my company, and I’m even more anxious that everyone be satisfied with the fit than I am about the design.

I think that must be right because I didn’t notice you when you flew by me the first time.

DaveK saw me near the W&OD trailhead this afternoon and circled back to say hi. Alas, I had to make him stop to get the shot. I only noticed as he started to ride away that we were both wearing Twin6 jerseys.

Note: I thought this thread was going to be about cycling in nudist colonies.
I thought it was going to be about the unfortunate development of some people cycling (or running) without shirts when discretion would suggest that they should have kept the shirts on.
