The bottom of the sign is 5’5″ from the sidewalk (I measured it this morning).Ellen
ParticipantThere is a dangerous low hanging sign on the Roosevelt bridge. Someone must have moved the sign lower when working on the bridge – my husband got banged in the head by the sign while riding this morning. Fortunately his helmet took most of the impact, but it didn’t do his neck any good.

Anyone attempt/look at the TR bridge sidewalk lately?
I rode the TR bridge this morning with studded tires. I would not attempt it with regular tires. Most of the bridge and ramp is covered with frozen ruts. It was a real challenge and I am trying to decide if I am more afraid of the cars in G’town (and taking the Key Bridge back to Custis), or of going back over the TR bridge back home. I did feel like a real hero after I crossed the bridge. . . still trying to decide.

Suicidal rabbits are my greatest fear on the bike.
My problem is suicidal squirrels in Lafayette Square. They try to dive into my wheels. Once I ran right over one – he was OK, though. They are very durable.

ParticipantHello Dirt – I really appreciate you taking the risk and reporting back for the rest of us. I’ll skip my ride tomorrow, again. I heard the temperature is supposed to be around 40 tomorrow. Maybe trails will be clear and safe for the commute Thursday.

ParticipantThanks, I’ll ride tomorrow.
