Wow, that’s a lot of donut stops. I assume no one will take it ill if some riders “do not” consume a “donut” at each location? (note, if I can make it I would likely join at Sugar Shack in Arlington)

    Doughneurers,

Even I will admit that consuming 6 or more doughnuts on the course of a 40-mile ride might be too much of a good thing.

We will divide and conquer like this: buddy up or group up on the purchases of doughnuts, and I will be armed with a bunch
of knives so we can divide the doughnuts into tasting bites. This way everyone can taste more than one delightful variety at
each stop, but overall consume far fewer doughnuts–if you eat a half a doughnut, or less, at each stop, you should be able to ride without
    digestive disorder syndrome.

Sharing is nice. You can always buy a whole one to pedal home with you if you really like the doughnuts.

Oh, it is perfectly acceptable to skip the consuming part at some of the stops. This is also a reconnaissance ride for everyone to discover
    where the doughnuts are.

Thanks to Ricky for this map of the route: https://goo.gl/maps/g1jWwuj5DHv

This will be a No-Drop Ride, we will enjoy a leisurely and social pace!
Route subject to slight variations to account for road conditions, detours to more doughnut shops or bakeries… For Doughnuts only!

Approximate times will be posted, but they will be best guesses, for those planning to join at any point after the start. All Doughneurers who RSVP can private message me to exchange mobile phone numbers, I will text out the groupo’s progress for your meeting plans along the route.

Anyone can join at any doughnut stop for a social with the riders, riding along does not preclude making each stop a separate FS Social Butterfly event.

I will take a Group Sock Photo at some point, do wear your favorites!

    Doughneurerers, and Team 4,

We will circumnavigate the District of Columbia to experience doughnut nirvana on Saturday, February 11th. Weather prediction is favorable. Exact details coming soon, but Save The Date.
We will start at 202 Doughnuts in Bethesda really early, like 9:00 Saturday. Then head down the CCT to the Cady Alley District Doughnuts (estimated time to be provided for those joining here) and then cross into Virginia via Key Bridge to hit the Arlington Sugar Shack (time tbd) and then head to the G Street Astros Doughnuts (time tbd) (No Hains Point Laps will be tolerated) followed by a cross town ride –maybe another District Doughnuts before hitting the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. ART up to Hyattsville — still negotiating with Shortcake for a Doughneuring-qualifying pastry just for us! Then Northwest Branch Trail and the Sligo Creek Trail around to Silver Spring with the end point at the Dunkin Doughnuts at the SS Metro Station.
Estimated times to be calculated and posted here for those wishing to join as we circumnavigate. Watch this thread! Save the date, plan now for this Doughneuing Extravaganza. Potential for Bonus Points abound. Doughneurers only, and all of Team 4, and any friends you invite.

    See you Saturday! e

P.S. Donut forget a lock for you bike!

    Doughneurers!

Great weekend to seek out Bacon Doughnuts! Doughnuts with Bacon sprinkles, or Bacon encrusted doughnuts are looking tasty!

Recognizing that some of you may not be into this bacon trend for all kinds of reasons, I offer the non-bacon veggie alternative: pumpkin doughnuts, or Matcha Tea doughnuts, or even onion rings might get you Doughneuring points with your description of their tastiness. Go forth, eat doughnuts! e

    See you there!

Yes! Great excursion, those puffy blobs of sweet goodness are a qualifying kind of doughnut!
Enjoy a few for me. e

There is a very strong possibility that we will stop at the John F Kennedy Center for the performing Arts and eat a doughnut in honor of President Kennedy’s June 26, 1963 proclamation that, “I am a jelly doughnut.”

    Judd,

Will there be a stop on your route for some Presidential celebratory doughnuts?

    Doughneurers!

We are a month into this doughnut reindeer game and not one of you has submitted a BACON Doughnut!
The Where’s the Bacon challenge starts now and will last until I replace it with my next inspiration.
Keep looking for Groundhog Day Doughnuts, it is tomorrow, after all, but Bacon Doughnuts are the new black this week.
Look at he lovely maple bacon long john; classic rings of Man Bait; maple glazed; oodles of bacon; and everyone’s fad favorite, Red Velvet Bacon cake doughnut.
    Bring me the bacon, e

    Team 10,

Your Captain has modestly censored himself from bragging that he is doing very well in the Doughneuring Pointless Prize category.
Since Judd’s actual points are secret, and my spreadsheet of pointlessness is equally secret, all I can say is: Keep Eating Doughnuts.

In fact, maybe a Team 10 Doughneuring Ride?
    Or
Join me for the Mid-February Doughneuring Madness Ride, we will circumnavigate DC, stopping at doughnut shops all around the
city (thus creating a big doughnut shape of Strava Art). Look for more info next week. Tentative date is February 11th, all day.
Weather permitting. No Hains Point laps; there are no doughnuts out there.

Girl’s Weekend in the mountains of Georgia. We met a decade ago when we all lived in Geneva, Switzerland. Have since spread out around the world, but we try to get together once or twice a year.

No ground hogs over here, would a muskrat do? Also supposedly the best doughnuts in Frankfurt (and there’s not much competition) are at Tasty Donut and one has opened not too far from me on Eschersheimer Landstaße. I rode by today, but did not stop.

Muskrats or marmots, even those evil Bavarian Martins! Bonus points for a foreign critter doughnut. Get pedaling! e

We are a week away from Groundhog Day. Doughnuts are famous Groundhog Day treats, so bonus points for any entries by February 3rd for Groundhog themed doughnuts. Let us all know where you found them!
P.S. Bill Murray is a tiny video, please do not eat your doughnuts like he did!! e

    Little did I know…
On Monday, at midday, it was raining, lightly, spattering and spitting, but I could surely ride 8.5 miles without too much to worry about, right? I even looked at the radar, steady, more of the same, so I skipped the rain pants, and the very coldness dictated my warm parka and not a rain jacket, right? I pulled my yellow reflective vest over it all. I did think my cool blue Spider-Man helmet cover might soak up and deflect the rain that was there. So far, so good. Half a mile in…
And then the raindrops got thicker, and then the puddles started getting bigger, and the drips started dropping off my visor. I had more than 7 miles to go. And then a car passed me and totally Rooster-tailed me, twice, because there were two big puddles right next to each other and we were moving at the same speed. After that I started to feel wetness getting into my boots.
Then the rain got even more aggressive, fairly pelting down on my head, parka, and hands. My gloves were getting soaked through, my ponytail was drenched, and I feared that my parka was starting to soak through. Then more rain fell onto me and I could now feel the water inside my boots sloshing back and forth as I pedaled. I could squish rain out of my gloves, and I was now wet to the bones.
Naturally, as I got to the White House and within a block of work, the rain faded fast and lightened up again, so I rode into Commerce in a misty drizzle. Little did I know I would pick the single worst 48 minutes to be outside on Monday.
Luckily, I squished noisily to the locker room and peeled off my wet, wet layers. My panniers and helmet made puddles, everything I wore was soaked and sopping. I really enjoyed a long, hot shower, and the Ortlieb had kept my business clothes dry. I also somehow had had the presence of mind to bring a second pair of pants, a dry shirt, gloves, and bra, there were spare socks in my locker. I pulled the insoles out of my Lakes and could wring them out! The wet stuff was beyond hope. I hung up the jacket and knew it would be fruitless.
Just three hours later I returned to my locker room to don the dry bike clothes, but putting the boots back on was ominous, and at the last minute I had to put on the very wet parka–after I wrung the water out of the cuffs. Thinsulate is still pretty warm, even when wet. The wet helmet liner was cold. The ride home was uphill and into the wind, but the rain had faded to a misty mist.
I was really hoping for snow. Little did I know that Freezing Saddles would be Monsoon Saddles!
