Participant1/5/21 – on National Bird Day, take a pic of a bird. Let your imagination fly. Happy hunting!

I think a better option is to require the bike unless the photographer can offer a valid reason for not including it. “I forgot” (looking at you, Josh) is not a valid reason. That way one has to show that they at least gave consideration to the requirement.
Sigh. Let’s leave it as unrequired unless I say otherwise. I’ll trust folks are on bike rides. I like having bikes in the pics, but I can see some not being able to include their bike in the pic. I don’t want to keep amending the rules and turning people off to playing.
Steve O, love you man, but this is my game so I’ll set the rules here. You can be the judge in your own games and start arguments there.

Actually, this does make it hard for those of us who customarily ride after dark (because after work for me is definitely after dark). When I took a photo of the sign with the lighted date and time on it for the first day, I had to direct my focus very carefully so that the lighted letters didn’t just turn into one big blur of light. At that point, if I’d tried to put my bicycle into the shot, it would have disappeared into the darkness.
It’s also an issue if we are trying to take a photo of a sign that is above a building. If we put our camera low enough to capture part of the bike, or if we move back far enough to capture both bike and sign, it may be impossible to make the sign legible.
You can obviously have what rules you want. But you should be aware that getting a bicycle (or even a portion of one) into every shot while still making the found item clear and discernable may be very challenging for some of us, even though we are riding to where we take the shot.
Y’know, I agree with you here. After a long discussion with the panel (i.e., myself
), I’m removing that rule. So unless I explicitly ask for the bike to be in the pic, it isn’t necessary.

P.S. 13 rules seem like a lot of rules!

As for the rules, yup, these challenges could go off on tangents easily so I made them to try to rein things in a little, make tallying simpler, and make it easier for everyone to follow along.
Thanks all for playing and I’m looking forward to your contributions

Participant1/4/21 – In honor of National Spaghetti Day, take a pic of an Italian restaurant, preferably one you like and/or serves spaghetti. Caveat is that it can’t have “zz” or “Garden” in the name or the sign. Happy hunting!
Also, starting on 1/4 going forward, I’m going to be a hardarse, so please read and follow the rules in the original post. Thanks again for playing

Be a shame not to take advantage of the temporary moratorium on hardarsery.
My palindrome for 1/2/21.Ha, hardarse mode is being turned at 12:01 AM EST on 1/4/21. If anyone has any viable pics from 1/1-1/3, post them before 11:59 PM EST on 1/3 and I’ll count it if it’s the item I’m looking for and it follows the Rules 1-11. After that, only pics taken and posted on the day it was asked for will get a point if they follow all the rules.

Rod, I tried to see if there was any relationship to elf or wizard with the Edsel, and apparently they used Wizard shocks. If you had taken a pic of the shocks with the name on them, I totally would’ve counted it.

Oh, hey, you’re right! I must have conflated the rules with another PP! Will edit my post if I can …. but don’t want to post a 2nd photo because that would break a rule. 😮
This was absolutely correct, but I have added a new rule going forward:

ParticipantI just want to say thanks to everyone for playing along. This is more popular than I thought. I’m trying to keep this fun, but I’m trying to be a stickler to the rules so I’m not spending hours trying to tally things up manually.
Y’all please continue your awesomeness, and keep the great and creative photos coming! 😎

Nice doubling up, but you didn’t preface your post with the date and item or by quoting my request post (Rule 6). I’ll count this because I’m doing a grace period until 1/4, but please quote or preface properly for future finds. Thanks!

11. Let’s stick to things you find out there during your ride, and not things that you bring or make yourself (unless otherwise specified). Example 1: if I say find “2021”, don’t scratch it into dirt. Example 2: if I say find a flower, don’t bring a flower with you on your ride and take a pic of that. This kinda takes the fun out of looking for things, which is the whole point. (Rule added on 1/2/21)

I know it seems like I’m being a hardarse, but let’s limit it to one pic per day so this thread’s sorta readable at the endJust post your best pic for the day please. Also, by posting more than one it makes it too easy for others. I’d like this to be a challenge!

I rode and rode, but there’s no place like home for palindromes. As I got out my bike I spotted a rotor on my mountain bike. Then, when I stepped outside, there was my kayak! My wife’s Civic was parked out front, but that one’s been done too many times.

ParticipantI’m going to try to do this every day at random times during the day. If you don’t see your pic getting counted after a couple of days, hit me up.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kgsAzaLIXN-IJMjscyNnQTNvWEp__VzgGBSkJDYrTfs/edit?usp=sharing
I’m giving all the pics a point where the person found a good example of the item/object and followed all the rules in the first post.
At the end, I’ll add a point for each like for a pic. (I don’t like sleeping
)
Cheers,
