ParticipantThe Schleck double-whammy really is hammering Cuddles quite a bit. It is going to make for a great last few days of the tour.
Dirt
ParticipantTotally agree on the time thing. I guess it says something about me and the mutant band of people that I call “friends” is that time never really enters into the conversation.

ParticipantEveryone pretty much pushed themselves to and beyond their limits yesterday….. except Frank. I wonder who is going to go on the attack today?
How about the green jersey race?? Cav gets busted 20 points for finishing outside the time limit and Rojas is back close to the jersey. It prolly won’t last for Rojas, but we can always hope.
Dirt
ParticipantThere were definiltely a lot fewer people in the bike room this morning.

http://www.bikeman.com/ Their menus are pretty good and you can find the winter shoe section pretty easily. I ordered the set of roadie winter shoes that I’ve wanted for a while. Very nice!
Dirt
ParticipantPark service filled in the potholes and added lines to the trail this afternoon.
Dirt
ParticipantBikeman has Lake winter cycling boots on sale.
Dirt
ParticipantYup. Great advice. We can all do more to help others incorporate cycling into our everyday lives.
Dirt
ParticipantHahahaha. Awesome. I hear REI has a sale on chemical hand and foot warmers too.

ParticipantI had a “We’re all gonna die” moment when a guy was walking on Custis “British Style” (on the left side of the road) right next to the sound wall on a blind turn. My sloth-like reflexes were adequate, but I definitely caused Mr. Man to need a change of underwear. I called back that he might be safer on the right side. “No $#|&” was his answer. At least the only catastrophe could be fixed in the laundry.

Except now, you can avoid that cross-walk and take the tunnel under the Humpback Bridge. Is it safer? Well, you might get hit in the marina parking lot, but I consider that less of a risk than speeding/distracted drivers on the parkway. Is it longer? Yes, if you’re heading to Memorial Bridge; but, as I learned a long time ago, sometimes cycling means taking a longer (and possibly safer) route.
Good recommendation. I haven’t gone under the hump-me bridge yet. If I’m going to Haynes Point, I take 14th Street. If I’m exploring the endless wasteland that is NW DC, I use Roosevelt. I’ll go explore the tunnel next week. It will be fun. Thanks!

ParticipantThe thing about winter clothes is that you can actually get to a point where you’re able to ride comfortably in the cold. Doing everything perfectly on a day like today will not exactly make this afternoon’s ride home very comfy… just slightly less miserable.
Dirt
ParticipantI like a bit of texture on my Multi-use trails. It adds character.
Dirt
ParticipantI also like that there are women’s sport tops that allow you to clip in a heart rate monitor strap so that you don’t have to double up.
Dirt
ParticipantDeFeet Aerators and Sock Guy’s normal weight socks work best for me.
