ParticipantThe MVT was icy tonight. Much worse than in the morning. Especially around the 14 st bridge and along the water towards the bridge.

ParticipantThank you for the post.
I was afraid of ice and found very little on the MVt from 4MR to 14 st bridge.
I waited before getting on the bike this morning and enjoyed the ride.@dbb 109926 wrote:
35mm studs – barely necessary this morning
Crystal City Connector had a couple of clear lines from the RR tunnel to the tunnel under the GWMP
The DCA North Bridge glacier has receded to the point that at least half the bridge was clear dry concrete
MVT was clear for virtually the entire width up to the 14th Street bridge areas. A few bumpy icy spots.
All in all, a fine day for cycling.

ParticipantAt 10 AM I rode on 32 tire:
14St bridge – Little dusting
MVT up to 4MR – Some light snow towards the city and clear after the airport – No problem
4MR -there is clean and clear – Arlington does it bestdelninno

On the ride home last night, after battling rutted ice for the few miles of MVT from 14th St to 4MR, I literally sang the praises of Arlington when I saw how clear 4MR was. Like, I was literally singing, “I love you, Arlington!” No one else was around to hear me, which I’m thankful for, but had there been someone, I think they would have understood my motivation and not thought any worse of me.
I was singing the same “I love Arlington” Song last night too after battling up the MVT from old town. Here is my picture of the transition from lovely cleared trail to MVT taken at around 5pm on Tuesday Jan 6th.
All other trails in my commute are cleared – 4MR, Wilson Bridge, MVT through Old town and the roads.Come on National Park Service, you can do it… plow the Mount Vernon Trail please!!
Took the MV trail from 14st bridge to the 4mr. And it was very hard to ride. Much worse than in the morning.

Downstream side of Humpback. After Mikey was done doing his track stand here, he failed to clean up after himself. Pretty crappy line on the downstream side of the Humpback Bridge. Line shifts sides to close to roadway.
Humpback was clear.
14th Street Bridge was clear. I only went about halfway.
