ParticipantI’m thinking about a stop by Westover Beer Garden for a weekend kick off beverage and a slice of Acme Pie Co.’s finest.

I started out for a nice little lunch ride and before I could get out of the garage, I felt a bit of rubbing on my rear tire. As I slowed to check it out, BAM! I thought I blew out a tire, but upon getting back, it was the rim that had blown out. That’s what you get for buying a 10 yr old bike off craigslist. Anyone have any spare 9 speed 26″ rear wheels they’d want to part with, or am I making a last minute trip to Phoenix Bikes tonight (hopefully not by bus).
I have a 22 year old 26″ wheel 19″ frame mountain bike I’d sell ya’, even comes with both a rigid and suspension forks.

I saw DCV and krew yesterday near RFK but I hadn’t been anywhere near M St. this morning before you posted this. Another beardo with a trailer? There’s a homeless guy you might have mistaken for me.
I thought it was odd “you” were riding a really nice purple Bridgestone with matching purple tape on a mustache handlebar.

Unfortunately someone decided to make Fat Tuesday this year the same day as my wedding anniversary… I’m trying to find a nice restaurant on the parade route, but I think we’re going to be a bit too far down to catch anything.

Team francophone within 100 points of the sloppies this morning. Just saying.
Slackers still comfortably off the back.
We’re not off the back, we’re riding sweeper.

And probably a bit more practical/durable for commuting too! That’s actually not a bad price with SRAM Apex, hmmm…

ParticipantThe WOD from the Caboose in Vienna to HunterMill: The first 400 yards were frozen bumpy and terrifying. yesterdays melt, turned into this morning’s black ice.
I bailed at Hunter Mill and took Hunter Station Rd from there.
The thick ice sections should all soften up and turn to slush by this afternoon, I would think. I’m planning on taking the trail all the way back from RTC to Gallows Rd at this point.

Wheeeee! I’m riding on the highway!!!
(Not really. It is actually Arlington Blvd. Felt like the highway though. If only the path were plowed.Does this mean the paths between the Providence Rec Center and the Fair View Marriott are still snow bound?

ParticipantI’m hoping to be down to s-2 soon. Days like today have me thinking about a 29’er fat bike.

ParticipantI’ve got a pair of the Levi’s. They’re just sort of so-so. Waist and length are right, but the thighs and calves are tight, even with the stretch fabric. For the added 15-20 bucks, I’d try the ones Tim was talking about. I’d be more likely to wear them more often.

ParticipantMy thoughts on stretching the mileage up front is that the GAP trail is more well maintained with a crushed limestone surface vs the dirt/mud double track of the C&O. I thought the lower rolling resistance might be where I should put the longer days, even if they were “uphill”.
