ParticipantThere were four of them at about 7:00 am heading west on the W&OD Saturday. Wonder how far they went?

ParticipantNow if they had only widened the sidewalk over the bridge too!

ParticipantFYI: Big Wheel is at Lyon Village, Lyon Park is a different neighborhood over off Pershing.

ParticipantHST has free showers for runners and cyclists and you also have the option to join the FARA gym (for a fee). There is no “bike room,” but bike parking is available in the underground parking (but very crowded).

ParticipantThere was one of them on Lincoln as well, just west of the Arlington county line.

ParticipantAlso saw last week at the Glencarlyn trails split. Very calm kitty.

ParticipantThe bike lane now disappears at Nash St, just in time to run into the back of the shuttle buses picking up/dropping off in between Nash and Ft Myer. That’s a little better than losing as you go around the corner at Oak St and have to jockey with the cars cutting the corner.

ParticipantI’ll have to try it sometime after dark if I can stay up that late (or get up that early).

ParticipantIt does have a fresh, bright an lovely yellow line down the middle of the trail to help you see. I’ll bet it’s not reflective though. Maybe a few reflective strips should be added to that black fence?

ParticipantHow many times in the past twelve months have they been working on this intersection? Or is it more appropriate to say they never stop working on it?
Rainnnnnnnn…….

I’m fortunate to have two local shops that stock most of what I’d like. They also have PERFECT customer service.
When I read comments like “I’d buy locally, but my shop doesn’t sell what I want and their customer service stinks” it definitely does NOT make me wonder why people buy on the Interwebs. If my local shop sucked, I would have serious problems supporting them. I went through that for years. I remember ordering a King headset from Metropolis (my local shop back in the day). They charged me $40 over MSRP, they required 100% payment before they’d order and there were no refunds. When it arrived 6 weeks later and it was the wrong color, I was told “Take it or leave it. You’re not getting your money back.” Am I surprised that shop is no longer around? NOPE!
PeteAnd I thought it was because the owner died. Although, I have to give them some credit for some good service for me when I was first in the area and my options were Big Wheel (or whatever the name was of the store in Lyon Village at the time) or the shop on the Georgetown side of Key Bridge (I’m not sure which of the two current ones it was then). I used them all for what they could provide.

ParticipantYep, just make sure your wife knows that you have first dibs on the mtn bike when you find a flat tire on your road bike and it’s time to leave for work (or it’s raining or snowing).

ParticipantLook at the Jamis Aurora Elite in a drop bar or the Jamis Coda Elite in a flat bar.

Get off the Custis after the Rosslyn hill and make a left onto Vietch.
Make a right onto Key Blvd. From here you can pick up Washington Blvd to the WOD or you can hop onto Fairfax and make a left after Glebe to catch the Bluemont Junction trail.
Or from Key Blvd, take a short left on N Jackson, then over 13th to Quincy, right on Quincy to left on 15th, a jog right at the light at N Glebe, and then left on 16th to Westover. Much less traffic than Washington Blvd with about the same terrain. The block from N Jackson down to N Kirkwood almost looks like a driveway into the townhouses on N Johnson.
