Participant#scavhunt 3/5 – Started raining and I didn’t want to head over to Gravely Point where there are frequently rugby goal posts and an occasional match with a SCRUM. Instead I stayed close to home and rode to Ft Taylor Park at Roosevelt and Broad St, not enough room for a rugby pitch on the hill, there must have been some skirmishes (SCRUMs) in the vicinity

ParticipantCasey, thanks, but there seem to be discrepancies between the various historical markers. The 1100 block of John Marshall is behind Nottingham School heading up Minor’s Hill to a historical marker at Sharp Park on N Powhatan St which talks about a Confederate outpost and a Union signal station and housing cantonment. Upton Hill Park has the pool and other facilities and doesn’t show any historical markers (there’s a boundary stone) and the NOVA Parks website has a video about it being the site of Ft Ramsey (also mentions on the historical marker on N Manchester at Wilson?). So confusing, but I can get photos for credit at the one at 7 Corners on Sleepy Hollow (Ft Buffalo) and by Oakwood Cemetery on Roosevelt (Ft Taylor). This is fun!
