4MRT is wet with some scattered slush. There is a lake at the west end of the 395 underpass – ok to ride through for now. MVT from the Crystal City Connector to 4MR is packed slush – an adventure on the right bike, impassible otherwise.

Nice to meet fellow crazy person/freezing saddles competitor Fithsparo, whose idea it was to try the MVT!

Does anyone have a report on the WOD between Shirlington and Columbia Pike this afternoon?

The wooden boardwalk just north of old town/south of the marina is a sheet of ice as of 8 am. Thanks to the runner who warned me, even though I learned the hard way it was not just a “take it slowly” situation.

This morning there is ice on the wooden bridges on the WOD between Columbia Pike and route 50 underpass. MVT from Old Town to 4MR and 4MR to Shirlington are clear except for a few patches.

As of last night the WOD from about Columbia Pike to 4MR to MVT was clear, just keep an eye out for a few frozen puddles.

i’m wondering about adequate bike parking in the vicinity… i think the closest racks are down towards the Bike and Roll, on the Strand.

weather looks pretty cooperative, except for the “Wind gusts of up to 46 mph” part.

There is bike parking next to the Starbucks on king street too.
