Here’s a histogram of all the rider speeds, averaged over however many laps they rode, with a Gaussian fit to the data. Mean is about 16.5 mph, standard deviation about 4.7 mph. I came in at 20.3 mph over 6 laps, a PR, (red dot) and Greg Butler came within 20 seconds of lapping me as he scorched the earth for 7 laps at 23.7 mph. Kudos!

Not much to add to this, except that I go minimalist: tube, 2 tire levers, 2 CO2 cartridges and that tiny Genuine Innovations CO2 inflator.

One thing not mentioned so far: I have a small pair of folding magnifying glasses to help out my eyes “of a certain age”. Seriously, I can’t do fine repair work at all without them.

It would certainly be useful and safer if the peds acknowledged the warning with a handwave.

That’s exactly what I do when I’m the walker instead of the rider.

Looks right in my head. It’s white. I’m absolutely ashamed as a bike nerd that I don’t remember what she rides. Rolling on Zipps if it helps.

Yep. White (with a little black trim) R3SL, Zipp 404s and she rides away from me all the time…

Here’s another way to look at it. If the “difficulty” of the ride is the distance ridden times the average speed, this is what you get. Horizontal axis is sort of rider number, it just means there was a rider who rode that speed for that distance. I’m the red dot, which is about 80th percentile for the ride.

One told me “I’ve got my silver and gold, this year I’m getting my bronze and going home.” She’s fast too. Probably in that bracket.

Ha! I know who that was. Riding an R3SL?

Interesting. You beat me to it. Here’s an interesting way to look at the results, distance ridden vs. average speed. You get bands for 8,7,6, etc laps. You see the two hard boys who did 8 laps. I managed 6 at 18.6 MPH. These bands are sort of like the AA, A, BB, B, etc rankings use by Potomac Pedalers.
