ParticipantThat’s definitely one of the biggest benefits left that a Garmin has over a smartphone. I neglected to mention that in an earlier post. Being able to load up a route file to it, whether it’s one you’ve created or it’s one for an organized ride (total 200, 50 states, etc) is very nice. It’s a cue-sheet that will route you back if you’ve missed a turn.

Participanthas anyone else found this “chainlove.com” website? I loaded the stupid firefox plug-in so I could see deals as they pop up. There seems to be a direct relation between how fast the deals pop up, and how fast my bank account empties. HELP!

ParticipantStrava works amazing with smartphones, if you have one. I almost wish I hadn’t bought my 800. One main reason I did was because it would do navigation, which has ended up doing it very poorly (remember my trip last HH?! lol). Since Google released cycling navigation a few months back, the 800’s only clear advantage now is the durability and waterproof.

Not that I don’t love the enthusiasm… but isn’t this getting a bit complicated? Multiple teams, platform-specific data entry (google docs)… Why not just use the BA club on Strava and heckle from there? Allows manual entry and it’s easy to summarize (individual) miles and hours by month.
Regardless, I’d love to participate in the VA-centric 75-150 mile/week bracket (whatever that may be)
The main reason I stopped participating in all those other challenges (National challenge, for example) is because I got sick of entering my ride data in a lot of different places. I just use Strava now, solved the endomondo ugliness, runkeeper spam, etc.

ParticipantI was screwing around with MapMyRide. It seems you can create groups, personal challenges, and events. I didn’t see a way to share a personal challenge with others, but you can create an event. I don’t know if this would work, but if someone with more MMR experience is around, maybe they could figure out if this would work.

Notice the distance markers. Signs that look stacked on top of each other are actually about 1/4 mile apart. Now if you want confusing, let’s talk about the comment threads on reddit.
what is confusing about those? you want confusing, check out the voting system!

ParticipantI was laughing all through that, hilarious! Yet still very cool. I ring my bell going down the CCT in the summer, and the double-wide stroller moms walking side by side (yes, that’s 4 wide) REFUSE to move, no matter how many pings.

I must not be riding enough or there must not be that many DC area redditors on the jersey thing b/c I don’t think I’ve ever seen one around here.
I’ve seen one once. The Narwahl bacons at midnight. This year’s kit is not very attractive. Do you have stairs in your house?

ParticipantActually I was surprised that it didn’t turn into a ridiculous flame war where 2/3rds of them are angry drivers threatening to hit the next cyclist they see. There was one dumbass, but no one else seemed to take the bait.
Usually WaPo comments are dumb and sometimes infuriating (not as bad as yahoo haha) but they don’t make me sad. Not like doing laundry does.
