    Get a professional bike fitting.

I’m off the bike myself for unrelated issues to fit and trying to cheat now isn’t working for me, although I’d rather ride in pain that take metro and be pain-free so I know where you are.. That said though, I had IT band issues at an early point that were very much attributed to fit. It wasn’t cheap, in the area of $250 but the couple of hours spent were well worth it.

I’d rather slash my wrists with a rusty spork than take metro, but you have to do what you have to do.

Looks good. 28’s are a great do-it-all tire size, you’ll enjoy them.

Ride your hills Ann. When you get good at it I have one for you I think Mr Blacknell also knows well.

It’s called Blue Ridge Mountain Road. There’s a good reason the FEMA Disaster center is on it I believe :)

I’ve only done the Backroads Century (last year) and I thought it was mostly awesome (my first century). It does take awhile to get out there though.

Thanks for the chuckle. I only live 10 miles further west and come into DC. I (seriously) love catching references to how gawdawful far we are from civilization :)

I saw that before you posted. Doesn’t sound like his mom was surprised, her only request was that they delay releasing the victims name until she could tell the rest of the family. I’m not a big proponent of guns and/or concealed carry, but sounds like it wasn’t a bad idea in this case. We’ve ridden in Reading, it’s pretty sketchy.

I’ve struggled with Tysons bike commutes in the past and traversing the last mile or so can be compared to entering a giant maw of whirling scimitars…

Will, that’s probably one of the best descriptions of cycling in Tysons I’ve seen.

Out of curiosity, does bike “traffic” increase once you get into D.C.? At that hour, I rarely see anyone in Virginia. (You’re riding through north Alrington, while I’m in south Arlington.) Once I get into D.C., though, it’s uncommon, but not rare.

I rarely see another cyclist. If I leave at 2am rather than 2:30 I often pass a westbound cyclist in the stretch near FDIC on Fairfax, and there’s an older gentleman that seems to putz around the Clarendon neighborhood at that time of the morning, other than that I don’t usually see a soul.

Warmer weather there’s another gentleman that’s my age or so that I frequently see on the W&OD east of EFC Metro, and a freaking ninja I want to kill (no lights, dark clothes) around the Gallows road stretch. From Gallows to Reston or Sterling/Ashburn it’s almost always just Bambi and myself, unless there’s a new cop in Vienna that’s having a slow law enforcement night :)

800 on the handlebars and 400 on the helmet. I’ll palm the handlebar one and look away if a lit rider is approaching, but at 2:30 am I don’t have that issue much.

    Hey Dave,
I wanted to ask your opinion on your Fizik Arione saddle. Do you like it? Long rides?

Not Dave, but I love mine.

Salmons on everything but the new cross bike. So far the black SRAM pads on the Avid shorty ultimates I’m running on that do a great job.

From the reports I saw supposed to be a low of 36 tonight, so prolly no re-freeze
