Thanks. What they were asking about was a 2.5mi piece of the ICC trail that opened July 28th.

Do any of you carry a mini medical kit in your pack? Yesterday I got stung by something and it hurt like the bejeebus. Fortunately I still had some ice in my bottle so I was able to treat it that way. Though I now wouldnt mind a tiny kit if I could find room for it.

I do. Found a gauze pad, some butterfly strips, couple of those wipes for alcohol and stings and a squeeze pack of A&D are about unnoticeable. they fit in a little box I have that’s about the size of a cig pack but half as thin. Oh, and Snoopy strips. Can’t forget them. Unless of course you’d rather use Sponge Bob or Disney Princess ones :)

It’s actually a miracle more of the arrogant shitheads don’t get killed. Seems to me like being arrogant on a bicycle is somewhat misplaced.

Ahh, for the most part it’s a testosterone fueled sport. Guys do stupid things with too much of it in their systems :)

I dunno. I’ve seen enough over the top stuff from cyclists to tend to side with MCL1981. Latest was a cyclist that spit on the hood of a car just because it was partially into the crosswalk at Wiehle and the W&OD. Not like that crosswalk isn’t wide, and the cyclist didn’t even have to deviate his path to get across. Uncalled for and looks bad on all of us.

Not only is it easier to clean up road rash, but it’s also easier to wipe off road dirt after a particularly messy ride. Hard to explain to a non-cycling bunch of male friends though.

Find someone to give you leg massages and it makes for a better one too.

I went in for surgery and a nurse noticed mine, said she always knows that the guy is either a cyclist or a swimmer…

Speaking of which, how’s she doing after the fall?

The last tire I replaced had a bulge in the sidewall, and that’s happened with other tires. Something else to watch for.

Yeah, cracking in the sidewalls, and also I’ve noticed some of mine seem to get bigger in profile also.

I’m with Dirt though. My Cross bike needs new tires now. They look ok, but it feels like I’m riding with the brakes dragging these days.

I agree. I’m assuming that the bike is already 9 speed?

Check with Loudoun County Transit. They have commuter busses that run to Purcellville, although I believe that they don’t have any incoming to DC in the afternoon. They might however as that’s where their depot is.

They’re full coaches, no racks on the front but they do have storage for bikes underneath.

Other option is to double back to Reston, pick up a 505/555 bus out of the Sunset Hills Park and Ride and hook to WFC metro. the P&Ride is at the 18mi marker which means 27 miles back from Purcellville instead of 45.

Rather fortuitous that this thread popped back up. I use a Stella and was pleased with it until yesterday morning when it started turning itself off despite having a fresh charge and not being run on high. That’s less than one year’s life. I just can’t recommend them after that. Nothing worse than playing in traffic at 0-dark-thirty and having no light up front.

    N+1 silly :)

Thanks. I just found out the my cassette is a Shimano CS 6700 instead of SRAM Red.

Dam, I paid for a full SRAM RED groupset. The local bike shop took me for a ride again.

No they didn’t. You’re running the best cassette to run with Red. Although the Red cassettes are light they’re noisy as heck. Almost constant chain clatter.

I’ve got a Garmin Edge 305. Upgrading to a 800 in the near future.

There is lots of fantastic riding around Charlottesville. I remember the hills… Heading out backroads towards Crozet is nice, too.

Guess I’ll be finding out soon… just got done dropping the 24 gallons of blood and daughter starts at UVA Saturday.

Key statement is “well locked”. I don’t leave my nice bikes out of my line of sight anywhere in this city unless in my office counts. .
