Maybe the 3am train since it is empty. But any normal daytime (including weekends) train, forget it.
3am train historically is a mail train and allows checked baggage.

Yes, it is paved all the way and the pavement is in excellent shape.
Sweet, I like paved. We’re headed down week after next to ride this: http://www.silvercometga.com/
Almost 100 miles paved the whole way when you combine the Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga in Alabama. Supposed to be the longest paved rail trail in the country. We’re riding it all the way out and back from Atlanta.

ParticipantLooks nice!! All paved?

REI used to sell a bike with those bars. I tried them and liked them, but they were not really my cup of tea. .
Yup. Novara Safari.
From my understanding only place carrying them is Nashbar. Cheap enough for an experiment. http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product_10053_10052_175533_-1_201521_10000_202348

CCrew recently reported a number of the W&OD outages West of the Custis. If you have the opportunity to get the serial numbers of the lights along the Custis, I’d be happy to pass them along to have them repaired.
Thanks!
Tim, FYI, most of the stretch by Ohio was lit this morning when I came through. The section along the trail by Patrick Henry not so much so. So looks like they fixed some and not others (I listed all)

Is Love Point Road bikeable? If not, it looks like I can get to that trail on back roads, at least according to Google Maps.
Most of the roads in that area have little to no shoulder, but good sight lines. I think “bikeable” is in the eye of the beholder. To me, yes, but I’m not put off by road riding. If you’re averse to riding on roads without a bike lane or wide shoulder you’re probably not going to like much of that area. Most isn’t heavily trafficked but you’re still riding on road.
I know Dirt and others ride the Eastern shore on occasion, they may weigh in here too.

ParticipantMy Mom lives in Queenstown. Only trail I’m aware of is the Cross Island Trail, starts at Terrapin Nature park and runs like 6 miles or so (all paved)
Old Love Point park is at about the 1mi marker.
Lots of low traffic roads in the area though, and mostly flat.

Lights out only makes a difference if there are lights to begin with. The stretch between Hunter Mill and Vienna is EEEEEEEERIE QUIET at 2 in the morning!!! (sidenote: the week I did that shift was some of the most peaceful riding I’ve ever done!!!)
Oh yeah. Usually just me and the occasional cop. I rarely see anyone other than cops and homeless between Reston and Arlington every morning. Ok, there was the drunk topless girl that one morning, but I digress

ParticipantPete, ya may have to roll that pole by the bridge at the glebe/fairfax connector on it’s side to get the # :p
That one looks like it rotted out at the base.. then went boom

Our main concern is sizing. She’s 5’1″ and the shape of her current bike is such that the main triangle is too small to put two water bottles on it and the 700c tires look like chariot wheels (HUGE). Is that weird?
That’s normal. Alternative is a 650c tired bike but ever tried to buy tires or tubes for one these days? Most look at you like you’re an alien.
Two of the three of the woman in my life’s bikes take only one water bottle and one of those only takes a side loading cage. The third is the departure, in that it takes three bottles (Salsa Vaya) and as a FYI, she doesn’t break the 5′ line on the tape measure. FYI, her bikes are 44cm, and a 47 WSD Trek 2.1 (forerunner of the Lexa) but the Vaya actually fits her the best and is a 50cm frame.. But that one takes 26″ wheels.

Thanks for the verbatim post. I’m going to remove the live link since we all seem to get the idea now.
I’ll let Revolution know about it as well.
Ok, the IT guy in me needs to point out that the linked pic had the surveymonkey cookie ID in the URL, so the fool that did it is 100% trackable if SurveyMonkey will disclose to Revolution. I’m evil like that, if I worked at Revolution I’d call the fool to thank him for all the business he brought

Participant“Just print out the image below and take to Revolution. I did a survey and got this coupon; there’s no bar code/scan ID on it- it’s just a code the cashier uses.
If the image below isn’t easy enough to see, click the link below. Coupon expires at the end of November. Visit each Revolution and pick up a couple Cliff bars or something- free- go every other day.

This is NOT an ad for Revolution; I’m not a fan of theirs and am passing this unlimited use coupon on to the cycling community in an effort to stick it to Revolution, just a little bit.
