ParticipantI always feel sorry for the pedicab drivers when I see them pedaling a pair of passengers that should be pedaling themselves…..

ParticipantFYI, looks like this is getting parted out, he wants $150 for the wheelset which IMHO is a touch high..

Anyone else posting this, I would think it was a joke. Dirt, I’m not so sure . . . .

Funniest part is that the W&OD actually has a gas powered one on wheels they pull behind a truck to do exactly that!

ParticipantHow to get it home?
Push it down the centerline of the trail like the Mom’s do. Extra points if you get a friend with one so you take up the whole trail.
If ya can’t fight ’em….. lol

Remember (everyone), all you know is you crashed and were found on the ground unconscious. The unconsciousness is always assumed to be a result of the crash. But if WHY you crashed is a mystery, it is entirely possible the crash was a result of unconsciousness rather than the other way around. If you pass out while riding for whatever medical reason, you will obviously crash and remain unconscious on the ground. So you might have something going on that caused you to pass out, rather than an injury from the crash. Or both. More reason to get checked out.
Very good point. I’m diabetic, and while I haven’t passed out as a result of it it’s indeed a very real concern. Hence why it’s on my RoadID securely on my ankle

Separate question: Justin, are you talking about clamping the rack to the seat post (presumably alloy) as opposed to the seat tube? If so, I’d expect the forces on the seat tube to be similar to that of the rider’s weight.
Err, not really, because a rack hanging off of the post is going to work more like a lever whereas the rider’s weight is pretty much centered over the post.

New Freedom, near the MD/PA line, is apparently near the high point of the trail, too. It’s basically downhill in both directions, toward Hunt Valley in MD and toward York in PA.
Very much so..http://www.johncarterphoto.com/ncrr/internal_pages/elevation.html
Nice ride tho. The PA side is pretty textbook PA Rail Trail, crushed limestone. Reminds me of the GAP. Cross bike works well but I’d agree, road bike is a stretch.

Yes, it worked, my rhinestone helmet with a light. The point is, nothing burned.

ParticipantI have a blast playing with the red light cameras at Glebe and Fairfax in the wee hours. If I come off the Custis and down onto Fairfax “just so” and stop just at the far side of the crosswalk I can trip them every time

Its worth noting that car high beams aren’t necessarily brighter, they’re just aimed higher.
Light aim counts more than lumens; a relatively dim light can be blinding if its aimed directly into your eyes (an extreme example is a laser pointer, which can blind you if shone directly into your eye, but you certainly wouldn’t navigate with one at night).
Car headlights are typically in the 1000-3000 lumen range, a number that very few bike lights approach.
Not to mention that they’re designed with a vertical cutoff which few bike lights even pretend to have.

Those are somewhat notorious for exploding. I think there was a revision to the construction at some point but there’s got to be someone out there who knows more about it than me.
They have more urban legend than actual failures. It’s always someone’s mothers brothers uncles friend too. I ran a set on a tri bike with no issues at all, and sold them to someone else that’s still running them.
There were some hub/bearing issues in the early gens, and they need to be checked for cracks where the cross spoke transition is. Last gen ones have a small rivet in the center of the spoke at the rim.
Carbon frames explode without warning in the cold from what I hear too
