Cycling snowplows! They can be neon green I suppose… $50 and a LOT of jury-rigging to set them up.

I’m in as long as we can plow the snow to the high mileage riders! [emoji2]

I used to think that was strange too–that cyclists didn’t say hi or wave to each other. Now I’m surprised when one does, like WTF are you talking to me for are you trying to start something? (I’m not rcannon, but I have aspirations.)
Sometimes certain subgroups do, such as mountain bikers. If you cross paths with a lone mountain biker in the woods on a frozen January morning and that person doesn’t return your greeting, there may be issues.
I thought the same when I started biking….But your right I get very little back. I still smile or nod my head to everyone riding by. Especially in the winter when we are all wrapped up and you really can’t tell who’s who! So I smile and nod at everyone because I just may know them
. And the ones I don’t know I don’t care what they think…

ParticipantI would like to award a reindeer game prize or prizes to the team with the most pictures of the most members of their team TOGETHER on or at an activity. (Excluding the beginning and ending happy hours) The picture must include a bike, a FS 2018 zipper pull ( or whatever we decide the token for 2018 will be) and it must be a selfie! Cause we all know I like selfies. I’ll also start a thread if I can figure that out!

ParticipantSo I loved the zipper pulls…easy to see on the back of a bike, on the front of a jacket and on panniers (I’ve even seen the small ones worn as earrings!). I like the idea of the same color annotated with the new 2018 year…my 2 cents

ParticipantMy1st Freezing Saddles ride was the year before I actually signed up…kwarkentien or handbag as I have so fondly called her took me out on the coldest day ever that year and we road the hills of Arlington. I met Rod Smith on that ride too and both of them witnessed my complete and utter breakdown at a McDonalds where we stopped to warm up. I thought my hands and feet had fallen off, I was crying and complaining so much that the whole group just stared. Well I lived and learned the lesson of proper attire, and to question Karen’s logic at all times! This will be my 3rd year in Freezing Saddles and I’m excited about it to say the least!

For anyone wanting to convoy to Oakton on Monday, let’s meet at the East side of the Citizen’s Bridge in Falls Church at 6:15.
Is that the bridge that crosses over route 7?

To arrive at the party at a fashionably late time of ~5:15 we should probably be at gravely point by 4, or a few minutes earlier if we have other pickup points for people.
I’ll be at Gravely point around 345 to minimize your stops…

As someone who put up a mediocre 1,173 points last year and is now going to be going in with a six month old – generally speaking – would anyone be excited to have me on their team? I can do any team meetup as long as its at Caboose off the W&O or any place in the Mosaic District. I’m super flexible. Swear.
Seriously – I’m looking for a general idea of if I’d meet the bar for “good teammate” or if it’s better for me to sit it out this year.
I agree with Steve O and others…it’s not the points but the effort and camaraderie you build during the season where most people would hang their bike up and wait for spring!
