2/22/2021 Purple House

Normally I have to give some thought to where I might find the daily photo item. Other times, I just happen to stumble on the item. When I saw that I needed a purple house I knew immediately where I needed to ride. In a county with a lot of HOA’s purple houses are definitely not the norm. Also, I usually don’t remember where I have seen something generic like features on a particular house. However, this house always stands out to me because it is dead ahead at a T-intersection in a neighborhood I frequently travel through and I always think about how the house is so much different than the other houses in the neighborhood. This house is in Fairfax City.

School Street Wormhole

In the neighborhood near George Mason University streets were reconfigured to prevent cut-through traffic in a neighborhood. It one area that is blocked off to cars there is now a park, School Street Park. They built a pathway connecting George Mason Road to University Road through this new park. It is very handy for making an east west trek through the neighborhoods near GMU. Going through these neighborhoods help you avoid the very busy Main Street in Fairfax City and Braddock Road.

Kelley W and I, unbeknownst to each other’s plans for the day, headed to Fairfax City to capture 2 electric box wraps.

2/20/2021 Photo from Great Height

I knew I wasn’t going to have much of an opportunity to catch a cyclist from a great height as the only two places I could get any height on my ride were in the Fairfax Corner parking garage (no cyclists anywhere to be found) and the Monument Drive bridge over I-66 (better not be any cyclist on the interstate). This photo shows west bound I-66 at Monument Drive.

2/17/2021 Bird feeder/bath/house (with bonus bird)

I saw lots of bird feeders, houses and baths on my ride but birds were eluding me. However, my daughter, who delivers for a pizza restaurant, had told me about a house that had lots of bird feeders and houses in the front yard. She said that there were always birds hanging around the yard. It didn’t take long for a bird to land on the feeder. It also didn’t take long for the homeowner to come out and ask me what I was doing. After explaining our crazy scavenger hunt and asking if it was OK for me to take pictures, she left me to my picture taking.

2/16/2021 Crown or Mask
Never found a mask or crown on our entire 35 miles ride. We ended up using our backup plan – off to the ABC store for some Crown Royal 👑
