ParticipantMoved to New Orleans at the end of March and starting to fall into enough of a routine (working daily from a home office for the first time, so no every day commutes and the AAA ballpark isn’t as bike-friendly as Nats Park) to find enough time to get out for more than just errands. Now I just need to remember to bring the camera everywhere since it’s so amazingly pretty here

Since I inadvisedly registered for DCCX with no bike I was forced to find one. Here she is. Frame found lying around at the Bike Club, built up with parts cannibalized from other bikes.
We know little about it, because the previous owner painted over identifying branding. Here’s me ghost-riding it home from the shop.
And here it is with new, more obnoxious, handlebar tape
That looks like a bike I sold to Bike Club in July. If it is the same one, it was a Craigslist find for me a few years ago and I used it as a singlespeed/rain commuter for a while. It’s a Jamis Coda frame and fork that the guy I got it from had painted over in that ugly yellow because that was his girlfriend-at-the-time’s favorite color, but they broke up before he finished fully rebuilding it as a SS for her, thus the mismatched frame and fork, and the cheap price he dumped it for on CL.
If it has a Arlington registration sticker, or the markings from one, and a sloppily etched TR on the bottom where the serial # would be – SN actually very vaguely visible, but not really readable – it’s the same bike.
Enjoy!

What level of UA Cold Gear? It comes in four different weights with the heaviest designed for extreme cold and low activity levels such as sitting in a deer stand in Minnesota in winter. I have a pair and they are warm that I usually only wear them on low teen or single digit temp days.
I went with UA 4.0 this morning – under a Nashbar Orleans Jersey (https://www.amazon.ca/Nashbar-Orleans-Thermal-Jersey-HIVIS/dp/B009DLAB0Q) and a middle-weight jacket on top and under a pair of mid-weight thermal tights on bottom.
Perfectly comfortable the entire way. Upper body was just slightly sweaty when I got to the office (15 mile ride).
I wish they did their socks in the same levels of Cold Gear.
