Update: the company pinky-swears that they’re expediting a third, correct order. I will (1) believe it when I see it, and (2) let you know if/when it arrives.
Thank you to everyone who’s requested a misprinted gaiter. If you’ve given me your address, your gaiter should have arrived or be on its way. I have a few on hold for people who expressed interest but who still need to make specific delivery arrangements (Laurie E., Nadine, LuisFilipe). A few more people told me they’re picking theirs up at HDCC tomorrow. Beyond that, I only have a few gaiters left, and I’ll bring those to HDCC tomorrow. If you can’t make it to HDCC, check with drevil if you ride out in the wilds of Murriland, or with Hancockbs if you ride out in the wilds of Prince William County, because they agreed to distribute the extras. Thanks!
Watching this topic with great interest. As a data point, the U. S. Post Office delivered a letter to me recently…and the sender had mailed it in November. Also, on January 4 a package containing a ceiling fan switch was mailed to me by first class mail. The switch finally arrived yesterday, 10 days later. There were no explanations or apologies for such delays. So I have this feeling that the gaiters may take some time to get to you. I hope the vendor used United Parcel Service or FedEx.
Thanks so much

Hi Bob,
Thank you for a nice introduction. I have never been to Greenbelt, but … you know what? For tomorrow, I planned a ride there with my friend via Anacostia trail. So, we could flyby but unfortunately, I cannot tell what time we will be in Greenbelt. We leave Crystal City at 7:30 AM and then ride by the White House, Freedom Plaza, and the Capitol building. If you think we can meet and ride some time together, feel free to text me on the number that I left for Bollard Busters in our Strava Club.
Hi Serdar!
I’ve got some errands to do today, so please enjoy your ride. I will be riding later today but I’m not sure when.
Thanks so much

ParticipantIf @randomduck wants the free version of the gaiter, please let me know the amount and I’ll make payment to you komorebi. If @randomduck wants to wait for a gaiter imprinted 2021, I am fine about waiting and paying the full cost (even if it is more than the $10 you quoted.) I want to wait and see if you can get gaiters imprinted with 2021 for myself.
You might want to find a different vendor for the gaiters and tags. I’m willing to pay for a garment with correct printing.
Thanks so much

Bob, this is off topic on the gaiters, however your story on getting a package delivered resonates with me. I watched the tracking on a package that left Ohio on Dec 19 traveled to Warrendale PA then District Heights MD then Hyattsville MD then back to District Heights then Merrifield VA then Dulles VA then it arrived in Baltimore MD on Jan 2. I live in Fairfax VA. At that point I sent a message to the post office via their web page. My package was delivered 2 days later. Crazy!!
I hope you get a much better experience next time. I once mailed a package to my daughter, who lives overseas. For whatever reason, the package went back and forth between New York City, New York, and London, Great Britain, for 4 separate round trips. Then the British Post Office delivered the package, but to the wrong person. That person was extremely good hearted: s/he drove the package, at personal expense, to my daughter’s home, and left it there for her. Weeks after I mailed it. I wish I could contact whoever it was and offer to pay for the person’s transportation costs. It is not cheap to drive in Great Britain….have a great day…Bob

ParticipantHi Komorebi, how is this going…did the Post Office even deliver at all? Or whatever other carrier it is? I once had a shipment of tea stuck in a Post Office sorting facility for literally days. Only when I filed a formal complaint to the Post Office using their web page for that was my box of tea delivered….and there is no hurry for me, anyhow…but I’ll move the money and my address details as soon as you let us know what to do…thanks so much…Bob

ParticipantHi!
I’m Bob Cochran. I live in Greenbelt, Maryland. I’ve been in Freezing Saddles for a couple seasons now. I telework 4 days a week, and I really miss my commute and my workplace friends, and it is going to take a big effort for me to get some significant miles in each week. With that said, I will try my best for the whole team and my personal health and sanity.
I am deaf, meaning I can’t hear, but I’m quite able to voice. It is the hearing and lipreading parts I can’t do. But that’s okay: I can be quite a talker once I get over my initial shyness. Most of the time I freeze up and simply don’t know what to say to another person other than “Hi”! I do appreciate very much being included in the conversation as much as possible.
If you need a Freezing Saddles neck gaiter (which komorebi should soon have a supply of), but you can’t afford one, please let me know. I’m paying for a gaiter for one person plus myself. I’m happy to pay for up to 3 other folks.
Thanks so much
Bob

Since the gaiter won, I’m in for one as well! Happy to pay for CBGAnimal’s and up to 3 others who want one, but need monetary assistance to get one.
I will match this: I’ll take care of randomduck and up to 3 others who need help getting a gaiter.
Thanks so much

I just confirmed with Henry, the Zoom happy hour at 7:00 pm this Thursday, at which teams will be announced, will have closed captioning. Don’t forget, though, whether or not you require closed captioning, you need to register in advance at https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJ0odu2gqDMqH9ZQ_PuNM81K8_26KguIspsV Once you do, you will get the Zoom link.
Hi Carol, thank you very much for letting us know this. I will decide by tomorrow night whether to register for Happy Hour or not. My experience with how WABA conducted captioning on Zoom for me was that they assigned one person to listen to the instructor and other class members and transcribe it all to text, in court reporting fashion. That is a tremendous workload for one person. I quickly felt sorry for my transcriber/captioner/stenographer. I’m a little worried that there will be just one person doing the actual listening and transcription for Happy Hour. So far there is one other person who has an interest in the closed captioning. I think that person is new to Freezing Saddles. If I’m assigned to a different team than the other deaf person, and sent to a different “breakout room”, then that one transcriber is going to be overwhelmed trying to transcribe for two different deaf people in two different breakout rooms. I’ve done a few years of Freezing Saddles and know what it is about. So perhaps it is a good idea to let the new person enjoy the Happy Hour with the benefit of all the captioning resources. It seems to be that I could show some courtesy to both the transcriber and the other deaf person if I don’t register, and just quietly wait for the team assignments to be published in text.
Thanks so much!

Gaiter is outside my budget, alas.
@randomduck, I’ll be happy to pay for yours. At the correct time, I’ll send payment and tell komorebi to send yours to you. You can can contact her with your address information.
