ParticipantFor the second time this week I have nearly run over joggers in the 15th Street cycle track. Tonight I was yelled at by the jogger. I am not a violent person but I wanted to be right then. Two older women joggers blocking the entire cycle track……I mentioned their error and they yelled at me and then stronger words were exchanged. Pretty pissed off right now and hoping I will not feel like this later but I am starting to lose the will to dodge them.
Hopefully I feel differently later.

That’s the Anacostia trail, between the Navy Yard and RFK. The Tour de Fat parade used it.

Wow – thanks for doing that. I’ve been meaning to try that route one day as I have friends right off the Sligo Creek Trail in Wheaton. I think I’ll come at it a different way…
Taking the ride from Nat’s Stadium up the Northwest Branch Trail and turning to go up the Silgo Creek Trail is very doable. The only painful part is the street transition between the Anacostia River Trail and Colmar Manor Park. Aside from that, getting up to Wheaton is pretty simple. Just study the maps because you can get lost within the Anacostia Tributary System of trails. Just don’t try to go all the way up the Northwest Branch Trail, its not cool at all. FYI, the Silgo Creek Trail is awesome!!!!!! Everyone should try it. No people, beautiful, lots of shade, twists and turns = PEAK FUN.

I really want this to be “the new connector between MVT and Long Bridge Park” but I know it’s not…

ParticipantThanks Klizotte,
Yeah, that part looked bad but I found a low volume street from aerial imagery that will connect the two trails together. Still struggling with getting north of Benning Road.August 2, 2012 at 1:05 am in reply to: From Anacostia River Walk Trail at Benning Road to Colmar Manor Park/Anacostia Trib. #947554bluerider
Participant43 views but no comments. I guess I will just give a route a try.

I doubt it. Unfortunately, I fear you’re in the minority of people who actually care. I mean, signs sure don’t stop people from making illegal left turns on red lights through the cycletracks every day…
I agree. That being said, don’t the bike symbols painted on the pavement at every block already provide the necessary signage. People just need to open their eyes. But I agree with jrenaut, they don’t care.

ParticipantI went through this tire debate with myself recently. I went with Continental Grand Prix 4 Seasons and couldn’t be happier. Almost as tough as Gatorskins but much lighter. The Schwalbe’s are nice but heavy. I guess it would depend on the type of riding and the bike.

He shouldn’t have yelled, but I agree that runners shouldn’t be in the bike lanes.
I agree. I have been tempted to say something especially when they run against bike traffic in the bike lane. Its dangerous. They created bike lanes for a reason.

ParticipantThanks for all the input. I think I will experiment a little more and see what works best for me.
