I know I am late to the party (I have been cleaning mud out of EVERYTHING), but Hozn, if you happen to accidentally buy a 54cm titanium cross/gravel frame and need to get rid of it… 😎
I am super excited for Judd. That is going to be a sweet setup. Now… come ride ALL the gravel with me!
Baptism in mud for Judd! Mine was last Saturday.

Judd is indeed interested as long as he can hop on it and make sure that the frame feels before all the parts that make the bike move are stripped off. Will PM.
I’m both jealous and relieved that I’m too short to fit this frame. I’ve never ridden Ti, and if you get the Hab I’ll be very curious about your thoughts on the ride of that Ti frame vs your aluminum and carbon machines. What are your tentative plans for the N+1?

Oh, interesting. For GB he dremeled down the freehub body on some Hope Pro2 Evo hubs (same hubs). So I know it can be done, but I’ve been happy sticking with 10sp for now on this bike.
I’d probably stick to 10-speed, maybe Tiagra with an 11-34. But for 11-speed conversion I’m more familiar with the idea of modifying the cassette, as seen in this video (jump to 3:04):

I’ll bet the owner of that bike is really handsome.
Whoa who’d you sell your bike to?

ParticipantSounds like things were locked in, so this was more of “this is how things are gonna be” informational meeting. The bike lanes are essentially what they can pull off with for “free” as part of repaving and repainting, so the mentality was basically “at least you’re getting something.” I rode what I thought was the detour on the way in. It’s not my preferred way to go. Crossing Ohio kind of sucks. It is what it is. The detour is actually slightly more convoluted though. Here’s what they displayed at the meeting:

These kinds of solutions are what the BAC and advocacy groups are trying to move beyond. They (maybe) work for people who already ride bikes. Shoot, I’d ride along Washington as is if need be. The point is that we need to build infrastructure that serves those who don’t feel confident or safe riding their bikes in these areas. Even the original plan fell short, IMO, in reaching that goal, but our aspiration must be to build infrastructure that serves Isabella, not Steve O.
These are all really good points. I agree that the original plan fails the “Isabella test” as well.

If I remember correctly, some of the houses on that stretch do not have driveways.
Yeah, that’s the dilemma. The bike lane in that stretch is basically removing de facto driveways for a few homeowners. I can appreciate they’d be pretty upset about that. I really don’t like the re-routing option though. It seems half-baked and needlessly long. I’d much rather take the lane in that stretch and perhaps traffic calming measures would have been a better compromise.

As someone who considers herself a serious(ly fun) cyclist, welcome back to the community! It sounds like you are a conscientious person who cares about how you treat others, and really that is all that matters. Ride your bike safely and politely, get back in shape, enjoy time with your daughter, and come to a coffee club or happy hour and introduce yourself to the group.
Just a word of warning that if you join the group… you can never leave!

Nice! There’s a Thursday coffee club that meets there at about 7:15a.

ParticipantI don’t take cycling too seriously, but I can’t imagine ever looking down on technology that gives someone the freedom to ride with their kids and get out and enjoy this wonderful hobby. Have fun!

ParticipantI suppose if it becomes a compulsion that one focuses on at the expensive of other needs and responsibilities then it can be considered an unhealthy addiction. HF, as your therapist I’ll take those Litespeeds off your hands so you can recover.

ParticipantI definitely wanted to join the Midnight Saddles crew, but as I biked to Baltimore (baby’s first metric century+) with Judd and Komorebi earlier I don’t exactly regret spending the evening resting and watching the Caps lose. Hope to be a part of the next one!

ParticipantYour Wolverine just looks right. The hidden bottle opener under the stem is probably my favorite detail. Also count me in for Leesburg gravel!

ParticipantLooks like a lot of fun but I got very little sleep last night and rode to Baltimore with Judd and Komorebi. I just want to nap and relax with my wife. I think those nutters are still in though. Go them!
