I sometimes see a guy on the WOD with one like this:
http://www.rowbike.com/Yes, it was very similar to that; however, his legs appeared to be not bent and higher. We were going opposite directions so it was only a quick look.

Yeah, I’ve seen that site. It could definitely be improved with some simple “before” and “after” graphics highlighting specific features of the improvements. (As opposed to an engineering diagram.)
I came through there today – it’s a mess. Hopefully the bicycle lane will be extended going West on Fairfax Dr to the Custis Trail connector.

ParticipantWhen you come out the other end, there are more steps, then a one way street that leads to a major, 6 lane, divided highway.

ParticipantYesterday I finally attempted the 170 Embassies Ride. A group did the ride several years ago. Thank you for the cue sheet and MapMyRide route.
Due to misreading the cue sheet, I bailed before the end – it’s hard to read the sheet, watch traffic, and see the embassies by yourself. Even though I only rode past about 120 embassies, it was fun and challenging. It was almost as much fun as the 50 States Ride. I have lived in the DC area for many years and there were embassies and roads I had never seen.Is anyone interested in doing this ride again?
It will take several hours. There is about 1000 feet of climbing and a lot of stop lights and stop signs. Traffic was light on a summer morning in August.bikesnick
Participant… it’s art.

I can totally understand how an intoxicated…. or even a sober, but somewhat clueless driver could make a left turn onto the W&OD from Gallows.
Interesting. Google Street View even shows a van coming out of the trail!

Construction is coming along nicely I see. The sign doesn’t make sense to me, though. Can anyone on this forum explain what it means?
“Fill Dirt” is dirt that can be used to fill a hole – it is not topsoil. Often at construction sites there is excess dirt that they are happy to give away, for free. It means they do not have to haul it off site.

Reminder for tomorrow night’s ride, Dirt’s out of town but the ride is still on. It’s a good way to extend your commute home.
Great. Will it be Dirt’s route from last week or the route on the website?

Last night on two separate occasions peds apologized to me as I went by because they thought I was dinging them for getting in the way (I was merely announcing my presence and there was plenty of room for me to pass). I felt bad about it and hope they quickly figured out what “dinging” means. A couple of weeks ago on another MUP a woman started screaming at me when I dinged because she had a dog unleashed and was walking near the yellow line. Again, I was merely announcing my intention to pass (nicely). She started screaming that “she could hear me”.
I have found that greeting the ped (hello, good morning, etc.) can be calming.

Hey ya’ll. Has anyone tried watching the 4th of July fireworks from the MVT on Columbia Island. I’m thinking between the inlet and Memorial Bridge. I would imagine the view is great from there. Do a lot of people set up “camp” along the shore there? ….
Yes, it usually is *very* crowded all along the river, and it gets more crowded as the time for fireworks nears.

+1 on more float. I have used Crank Brothers Candy 1s in the past. They work with SPD cleats.
