ParticipantNOAA or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Silver Spring is the agency that monitors the conditions of the oceans and the atmosphere. They are responsible for our weather forecasts. We can thank them for the snow forecasts!

ParticipantAll aboard the chameleon train in Silver Spring! It is down the street from the metro parking garage, by Bonifant and Georgia. I thought it was a gecko but reading more about the mural, it is a chameleon.

ParticipantThere are some perennial installations on Connecticut Ave. One of them is Monument, overlooking the Connecticut Ave underpass in Dupont Circle. It is formed from sticks and branches locally sourced and is supposed to represent the achievements of a community working together.

2/2/21 – Dog (but not your own)
A bit hard to see but did catch someone walking their white dog rather late. The best things in life are furry!

ParticipantThe Joan of Arc statue in Meridian Hill Park. It is a replica of the one in France. It is the only equestrian statue of a woman in DC. Also pretty cool is that the statue was given to woman in the US from the women in France.

Ha ha – at first I thought it was a comment on how people are ‘sorta’ wearing a mask.
That would be appropriate in these times!

ParticipantThe Gagged Washington mural. I did not realize but it is also by Udofia the artist who painted the one on the wall of Ben’s Chili Bowl. It’s a collaboration with another artist about Washingtonians fighting to have their voices heard. I think it’s kinda neat that it is also next to the RBG mural.

Would agree with HokieBeth and Boomer that there was a lack of gearing in the first Tour de France so I went to Gearin’ Up Bicycles.

I am not sure I understand what to do for the bonus 2 points. Can Ricky or someone else explain, please?
The only clue is that it isn’t the longest word. Based on the photo I wonder if it’s phrase or something related to the Tour de France.

ParticipantThe Cairo building on Q St. When it was built it was the tallest building in DC. The advent of elevators permitted buildings like the Cairo and modern skyscrapers. Because it dwarfed everything around, it lead to a height limit for buildings in DC and it still remains the tallest private building in DC. According to Atlas Obscura perhaps the greatest legacy of the Cairo was keeping the low skyline the norm for DC.

ParticipantThe Barbie Pond on Q St! An ever changing display of Barbie dolls for various occassions. Right now they have one celebrating inauguration. The pond is probably too small for lakefinder unless you count the size of the pond relative to the Barbie dolls!
