ParticipantAlso, in a pinch, bikeshare bikes make great snow/slush bikes. And someone else gets to clean up the drivetrain afterwards.

ParticipantI’m in for Best Buns.
Arlingtonrider
ParticipantKaren, I’m going to join your group riding tomorrow from Best Buns, thereby assuring that any alliance will be unholy. See you there!
Arlingtonrider
ParticipantSteve, I think I’m going to head out with the group from Best Buns and meet you all at Port City. I may ride back with you though. See you at the Brewery!
Arlingtonrider
ParticipantGreat idea, please count me in!

ParticipantWelcome, Cathy, and everyone else! I’m a Kathy too and commute to DC from the Shirlington area. I’m great with the Salty Dogs name and love Chris’ suggested avatar, but have no photoshop skills to add the name to the hat.
Have you all clicked on Steve’s link and joined our team’s strava club? That’s necessary to stay in Freezing Saddles and for the team to get credit for your rides. Go Salty Dogs!Arlingtonrider
ParticipantHey, didn’t Liz say that Team 14 had the most spirit by having the most RSVPs for the happy hour?! That’s us!!!

ParticipantI edited my earlier post to favor short shifts, more volunteers and at least pairs, so that no one would have to be outside very long.
Arlingtonrider
ParticipantIf we’re doing pairs, I would be happy to do a shift.
Also, I’d vote for short 10 or so minute shifts in pairs and lots of volunteers. Freezing Saddles depends on participants stepping up to help out, and spending 10-15 minutes in pairs is a great opportunity to do that and make new friends in the group at the same time.

ParticipantAwesome job on that! By the way, New District Brewing Co. just posted that they are officially opening this Saturday, Jan. 9 at noon. Details will follow on their FB page.

ParticipantThat was loads of fun and a great way to start the new year. We got to see some of the National Harbor fireworks too. Thanks for getting us out there, Karen!

ParticipantIt’s a beautiful night for a night ride at HP. Karen, see you soon. Happy New Year everyone!

ParticipantEric, thanks for offering to present the Jan 1 Freezing Saddles Newbie Award for 2016! I had forgotten about that one.
I was the creator and presenter of this award last year, and the terms I set were for riding the most miles between midnight Dec. 31 and midnight Jan 1. My intent was that any miles before midnight Dec. 31 and/or after midnight Jan 1 wouldn’t count.

I’d be happy to do this award? Last year we did a second golden nugget to the rookie with the longest 1-1 ride. Im happy to present this award as the previous beneficiary last year and great the “golden” nugget.
Also, just to be clear, does the January first ride need to completed by mid night 1-1. Lets just say hypothetically of course that some one road till 2-4am on the 2nd. Would the ride need to be stopped and started again at midnight?

ParticipantChris, this is great. Thanks! It would be awesome if they could all agree on color keys (my vote would be with Arlington’s, fwiw.)
Arlingtonrider
ParticipantI plan to be there, with very sincere thanks to the awesome new happy hour volunteers!
