ParticipantPointless Prize Number one. January first longest ride. Which lucky player will win the much coveted* personalized Golden Ingot and the honor of the Saddlebag of Security to carry it in for the entire year? You!
Easy instructions to win. Ride lots of miles** on 1/1/16.
The Golden Ingot is made from a highly refined elemental metal that shares many aspects of pure 24 carat Gold. It is carefully cast of hand-picked at peak ripeness artisanal reclaimed automotive wheel weights. After casting the Ingot is heavily coated with a lustrous layer of finely aerosolized golden pigments then deeply embossed with the Winner’s name, ride date and miles ridden. The Ingot is yours to keep forever.
Naturally any object of this massive magnitude requires security above and beyond what is afforded by the standard saddlebag. The golden Ingot comes with one (1) full year of free use of The Saddlebag of Security. This one of a kind hand forged locking saddle bag is designed to mount on your bike so you can carry and display your golden Ingot with complete confidence that it will not be stolen.***
In addition to the envy of all the combination of the Golden Ingot and the Saddlebag of Security have many positive aspects. Interesting physical properties such as being able to cause a tide in the Reflecting pool while riding by.(The ducks and geese love it and all quack “surfs up!” as you pass) and increased traction and tire contact patch. The unique combination of the two also render your entire bike virtually theft resistant to all but the most determined mesomorph equipped with a flatbed tow truck and a forklift. No one wants to be a lightweight and I can guarantee you will not be a lightweight if You win!
The golden Ingot and Saddlebag of Security will be presented to the winner at the freezing saddles 2016 opening happy hour by our very own 2015 First day ride winner, Rod Smith.
*”much”= Wow, you have to carry that for the entire competition? HaHaHa!”
**”Lots” = more than any of the other players on 1/1/16.
*** by a weight weenie. No guarantee of security if a metal scraper or passing black hole spots it.December 30, 2015 at 8:34 pm #1043670ewilliams0305
ParticipantI’d be happy to do this award? Last year we did a second golden nugget to the rookie with the longest 1-1 ride. Im happy to present this award as the previous beneficiary last year and great the “golden” nugget.
Also, just to be clear, does the January first ride need to completed by mid night 1-1. Lets just say hypothetically of course that some one road till 2-4am on the 2nd. Would the ride need to be stopped and started again at midnight?

ParticipantEric, thanks for offering to present the Jan 1 Freezing Saddles Newbie Award for 2016! I had forgotten about that one.
I was the creator and presenter of this award last year, and the terms I set were for riding the most miles between midnight Dec. 31 and midnight Jan 1. My intent was that any miles before midnight Dec. 31 and/or after midnight Jan 1 wouldn’t count.

Participantso if my calculations are correct the rookie Nugget goes to David Q for riding 116.6 miles on January 1st. If there are any other rookies out there who believe they may have ridden a longer ride or no of someone who did please be sure to upload the ride and let me know. The Nugget is getting ready to be shipped out for engravings (or scribbled on with a sharpie), so please I really don’t want to put the wrong name on it.

ParticipantThe Golden Ingot has been cast, sort of carefully engraved via the time honored “impact method” by a bad spellar with poor handwriting and given its lustrous coating.
I suspect that the slightly warmer weather will be due to the heat given off this massive object during the post casting cooling off phase.
