ParticipantMost of us would have been very happy to have someone come and get us. Sorry about your flat, especially on a day like this!

ParticipantWelcome Cristina and all the other new folks!

ParticipantWaterproof is great, but I do the same as Sethpo, above, putting my things in plastic bags and putting the bag or bags in my backpack or pannier. I didn’t want the extra weight of the waterproof backpacks or panniers.

ParticipantLots of parking available. See attached graphic.
Many additional U style bike racks are available next to the Transit Station at one end of Shirlington Village and the Library at the other. It’s ok to lock up to lampposts, etc. as well.
Also, car parking is free in most of the garages after 5 pm.

ParticipantSpeaking of who has the mike, does anyone actually have a mike that we could use for the announcements and awards?
Arlingtonrider
ParticipantI think the award givers announce the particular awards they are making. But someone might want to mention which teams were tops of the various leaderboards. Steve – ??
Arlingtonrider
Participantp.s. I have a nice prize for this, but I won’t be super disappointed if no team actually manages to win in view of the short time period and the weather. Nevertheless, please keep trying!
Arlingtonrider
ParticipantI’ll take care of the sleaze award. Meant to volunteer for that awhile ago. Also will make award for the post-competition social/photo team award, if a team manages to win it. Photos must be posted with dates to win.

ParticipantKen – sending you a PM.

ParticipantNot even counting Dickie (who we would love to see if he can make it), we now have over fifty people coming to the final #BASF happy hour!
If you haven’t already, please let me know if you’re planning to join us so I can make your official BASF nametag and have a good headcount.
Also, if you’re someone I don’t know and your real name isn’t obvious from your screenname, please send me a notification (see toolbar on top of this website page) providing your name for the nametags, which show both real and forum names).
Please also let me know if you have any questions regarding transportation options or bike/car parking. Lots of options!

ParticipantIs that what it should be? I’ve been pronouncing it Hozen, like in lederhosen.

ParticipantSorry I missed HDCC today. I didn’t ride most of the way in thinking that the trails would be icy, but maybe they were fine. Hope to be there next week!

ParticipantThanks for that update, Dana. I think it’s been fully closed since Friday, but I have to hand it to someone (Arlington County? Pulte?), the detours from the trail are extremely well marked and easy to follow.
After trying several alternatives, none of which was too bad, I’ve decided to mostly skip the Crystal City detour (except when I want a burger at Good Stuff) and follow the one that is recommended at the top of this thread. It seems to me to be the easiest and most direct one to and from Shirlington. Plus it has the switchbacks.
Heading west, you go up them. Heading east, you go downward.

And I can’t figure out how to reply in tapatalk. But no worries – gotcha.

What time?
The HH will officially start around 5 pm, but we probably won’t start awards/announcements until sometime after 6:30 pm.
Would be great to see you guys if you can make it!
