Once you get around the downed tree reported between 395 and Gravelly Point…
Thanks for the heads up on this! The tree had been cleared off the trail when I came through at about 6:40 pm.

ParticipantSteve, I don’t think I can add to the calendar without my Google password, which I don’t have. Could you (or someone else) add the happy hour to the calendar? Thanks!

ParticipantWe’ll be inside and will try to save some tables off to the right as you come in. Early folks can help with that.

ParticipantGreat idea, but I can’t make it today.

ParticipantI was sorry not to make it to the HH too. I’m Kathy and live in Shirlington and commute to the Capital Hill area almost every workday except when I telework, and on those days I often try to at least commute to a coffee club. I’m almost always at the Weds. Hump Day coffee club in Shirlington, and try to make at least one other coffee club on other days – Tues at Crystal City Cosi, Thurs at Pentagon City Whole Foods (the WTF Coffee Club) or Fri. at A Baked Joint in DC. Most of my riding is during the week, but I pretty much ride at least somewhere every day.
I know at least a few members of our team already, a great group – Dane, Robyne (who comes to us with the gold nugget award for 104(?) miles on Jan 1 – all of which help our team!), and ctankcycles, whose nomination I happily second if Dane wants to pass the baton.
This is my 5th year of Freezing Saddles (all of its existence) and it’s been great fun every time! I’d be glad to help organize some happy hours or other get-togethers. Del Rey area is one favorite area (anyone up for a casual dinner at the Evening Star Cafe?), but I’m open to anything and know we’ll want to make sure we have some events that are nearer to other team members who live further out. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

ParticipantAs I recall, Arlington was willing to treat or plow this section of trail but was told not to by some NovaParks group (I forget their exact name, it changed) that has jurisdiction over it. Their argument was about cross-country skiers. Several of us wrote to them, but to no avail. I get steamed whenever I think about it. Arlington DES might be able to provide you with more information.

ParticipantJust saw this. I’m in!

ParticipantBased on my visit to the open studio yesterday, a bridge over Shirlington Road seems to be under consideration as well.

ParticipantLord of the Mark, PM’d you with an additional option. We’ll get you fixed up, one way or another.

ParticipantI forgot to mention that the pointless prize I’m volunteering for is for the most Hains Point laps during the contest period.

ParticipantI’m so bummed that I’ll be out of town and will miss this very fun event this year. Will make a contribution though and that makes me feel better.

Oops, I mean Sept. 15! Sorry for the late notice, but I just saw that the Third Thursday of this month is this week. You’re all invited join us for happy hour starting at 5 p.m. on the patio of Capital City Brewing Co. in Shirlington. RSVPs are especially important this time in view of the beautiful weather, so please let me know if you plan to come. As always, all are welcome! I’ll have nametags to help new people get acquainted with everyone. And bike maps.

I hate the intersection of Mt. Vernon and S. Glebe. WAY too many folks blowing red lights there, especially in the afternoons.
Ditto. I’ve found that crossing difficult to make at other times of the day as well, including in the morning (trying to head south from Arlington Ridge to Mt. Vernon Ave).
