I can take photos with my phone if you can tell me where to post them.
Thanks Boomer. We can post a few team pics right here on the forum. I’m not real technically oriented, but I’m sure someone at the happy hour can help.

I can pick up tags from BikeArlington.
Thanks very much, Rod, but please – only if you happen to be in that area anyway. It’s too cold to go way out of your way for them. I have about ten I can bring if you don’t get a chance to get there.

ParticipantDave, i’m so sorry to hear about your shoulder! I hope it isn’t hurting too much. Is there anything we can do to help you or keep your spirits up? Please know that you’re invited to everything regardless.

ParticipantNew happy hour volunteer opportunities:
I’m going to bring some Arlington, Alexandria and DC bike maps to the happy hour in case anyone would like to have them. I might be able to get some Fairfax County ones as well. If anyone wants to bring bike maps for other jurisdictions, please do!
Could someone volunteer to take some photos? It would be nice if we could to get teammates present at the happy hour together for a quick snapshot.
Also, can anyone pick up some forum reflective tags from BikeArlington Headquarters?
Thanks in advance to any volunteers for these things!

ParticipantHappy to report an easy ride to Best Buns for HDCC. Arlington Mill Drive was mostly dry and the trail alongside it appeared to be. Update: It was so nice to see DismalScientist, sjclaeys, consularrider and kwarkentien this morning. The trail along the road is completely dry.

ParticipantNot suggesting that. Mainly just wanted to note that it will get progressively colder and windier through the day, so people can be prepared. Maybe I should have left the “feels like” part out. It doesn’t matter.

ParticipantIn addition to trail conditions, I hope everyone is closely watching the hourly “feels like” forecasts for tomorrow.
According to the Weather Channel, it’s going to be extremely cold in the morning and getting progressively colder and windier throughout the day, even down to “feel like” temps of 1 or 2 degrees Fahrenheit in the evening. At those temperatures, icy trails and roads might not be the only important safety concern.

ParticipantI’m teleworking tomorrow, but w/r/t using Eads, would you then cut over on 18th to get back to the MVT? I wonder about conditions on the little hill/underpasses on the Crystal City connector.
Arlingtonrider
ParticipantNo worries. Got it covered. We’re good.

ParticipantRedundant post.

ParticipantOK, I’m going to call this a quorum and consider that all or at least most of us are in. Will order a light assortment of things and make sure vegetarians are taken into account. If any funds are left over, they will be contributed toward our final event.
Please make your contributions in cash ($5 – $10) when you pick up your nametags.
We have an area in the back of the room where panniers, backpacks and jackets can be left. (The room is L shaped, this area is the small part of the L in back.) We’ll probably have the nametag/team assignment/contribution station near that area so you can put your things down first.
In addition, because there are so many of us, I’m reserving some nearby booths and/or tables in the main area of the restaurant where teammates and friends can gather and order more food or dinner if they like.
Gold nuggets will be awarded at 7 pm.
Final updates about the event will be in edits to the first post in the “Alert” about the date change thread, and may include more bike parking info. (The diagram there shows a lot of the bike parking, but there are also a number of U racks near the bus station just up the street and at the library.)
Let’s have a party!

ParticipantI think the half price HH appetizers are on Thursdays only, but no worries, I’m working with Cap City on this.

ParticipantNote that Shawn is talking about Bar Mitts and Jabberwocky is talking about Moose Mitts. Moose Mitts have a different design and are made from stiff fabric. Bar Mitts are neoprene. Both do a great job of keeping hands warm.

ParticipantAmy, I was thinking 5:30ish, but no worries – others can help if that doesn’t work well for you.

ParticipantI almost forgot to report another awesome thing – the Shirlington Road crosswalk buttons, which apparently have been doing nothing for awhile, suddenly lit up very bright yellow flashing lights on *both* sides of the street last night!
Cars on both sides actually stopped to let me cross the full width of the road!
Thank you so much, Dasgeh, and everyone else on our BAC, for following up on my request to bring that need to the county’s attention. And I need to thank Arlington County for fixing this in the exact way that I hoped that they would. It works!
