ParticipantJust saw in an article that Bicycle Space does a pay-what-you-can yoga class every Monday night at the shop

ParticipantI’ll second the requests for bike shops, water, and restrooms. Also, I think the Custis Trail stops in Rosslyn instead of extending across the Roosevelt bridge. I see where you’re going with the folding over, but it is a bit distracting.

ParticipantI’ve removed them before when the key was lost/missing/not available, and it takes a bit of time. If someone is doing it on the street, I’m sure it would raise suspicion. Like Dave K said, it’s a deterrent to encourage the thief to prey on other, less secure bikes.

ParticipantI realize they just went in, but any idea when the data is scheduled to be released?

ParticipantFound a reference to a french company called Eco Counter on a TBD article. Searching for that led me to this page.
http://www.eco-compteur.com/Multi-Users-Counting.html?wpid=41977Seems like it still might miss folks with carbon wheelsets (or count them as peds), but I think a majority of folks are riding on some sort of metal rim that should trigger the sensor. Looks like they double-dip for the cyclists as well.

ParticipantHere’s a link for the WABA Adult Ed bike classes. I think the class sizes are pretty small, and they get great results!

Nothing wrong with the burritos.
Not those in particular, just the idea of a burrito sitting in my stomach in the middle of a 60+ mile ride. yuck. Plus, as you said, it wasn’t early enough anyway, so we just kept rolling on…

ParticipantI always wondered about those wooden posts with the tiny print, but never stopped to read it. Now I don’t have to!

ParticipantLooks like there are a few buses that run along MacArthur Blvd that you could connect to ones heading towards Bethesda if you really needed. Good to know you have a safety net, but the two or three transfers might be enough motivation to push on through! It’s about a 300 ft elevation gain over 7 miles. You can do it!

Bummer. Another time then.
Open invite to anyone else.I’d love to SCR! That’s a bit out of my way though, as I need to get out to Falls Church on the W&OD. I’m usually found along the Custis. Been splitting my exits from DC either by Penn/Virginia Ave/Roosevelt, or straight down Independance to Arlington Memorial. Not so much that way recently, since that crash video

ParticipantThere are a ton of searchable routes that others have made on http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/? you can limit for length of ride, (I’m guessing a 30 min ride is going to be under 10 miles)

ParticipantI did this ride in 2008 the first weekend I was in DC. It really helped me to get to know the district and figure out places I did (and didn’t) want to live. I’ve been wanting to ride it again, but I’ve been booked for the past few years and I’m going to miss it again this year. A great ride though, I would highly encourage it, but maybe skip the mid-ride burrito (are they still doing that?)

hilarium!
fun reading while I wait for today’s BSNYC post… Before the 4th of July, I drafted behind a caravan of port-a-potties on independence ave.

Generally flip them for the next nicer toy on the planet.
Post your bike up here next time!

ParticipantI’ve been running the All Condition Armadillos for the past 9 months and been pretty happy with them. Particularly now that they come in all black, so I don’t have to look at that ugly brick colored sidewall they used to use. Some people say the ride is too harsh, but they get me to work and back without a lot of grief.
