I’d trust your instincts – if he seemed to be paying particular attention to the locks, then it is likely he was “shopping.”

Most helmets are adjustable at the back, so if you’ve got that in front, spin it round…One more thing—strap it down properly. If you don’t secure the straps at all, the helmet will come off in an accident instead of staying put and absorbing the shock…

About once I week I see someone wearing a helmet backwards with the straps dangling. I never know if I should offer to help or if this is yet another fashion trend that has passed me by.

I couldn’t find my leg warmers this morning, unnaturally bright red legs upon arriving at work drew undue attention/concern from security guard.

I was passed this AM by someone wearing shorts. I almost put on the balaclava this AM and thought to myself as I was passed that I was glad that I did not go the full-nanook as I really would have been put to shame.

I’m glad to see the folks doing work on the trails, but I had two up close and personal encounters with their trucks:

    – Friday: truck was coming down the Brandymore Castle hill heading to the bridge work. I got off the trail to allow it to pass when the truck cut the corner missing me by inches.

    – Monday: the truck was parked half-on/half-off the trail on the I-66 side just past the bridge under George Mason at the S-curve. I was able to see it when I came under the bridge, but anyone coming the other direction would have had no warning since the workers didn’t put out signs.

Today I broke my two-day streak. Maybe the cooler weather kept them off the trail.
